  1. I enjoy your posts but this is getting tiresome. You're lot smarter than me but let me say this. Yankees and Red Sox decided to spend their player salary in different areas. I'm just happy that Henry is willing to spend $243M. With #1 offense and good starting pitching, we'll have big leads going into last three innings. There will be excitement for sure, just as when Kimbrel was closing against the Yankees in the playoff series.
  2. Nope.... I want to keep both Dalbec and Chavis.
  3. What the hell does it make difference to Tulo? If he's still good, Yankees will provide him with an opportunity to re-establish himself. After collecting $19M for two more years, he has chance to sign another contract. I don't see your logic.
  4. Geez Moon, Topic was helping players union. You think Boras would be against my plan? f*** NO. You really don't see the trickle down benefit for players?
  5. If it's about benefiting players then why not allow teams to remove 'dead money' off their books? Pablo and Tulo are great examples. They are owed $17M and $19M by Red Sox and Blue Jays. Why not allow both teams to simply 'write it off' like a bad debt? Player union would go for it because both teams may spend that money on another player, a union guy. I can hear Moon talk about competitive balance but who cares? Players certainly won't. Let see, who can we sign for $17M without incurring penalty on it?
  6. Thanks......sometimes I just make stuff up or it seems.
  7. Option 1. Kimbrel over Eovaldi Option 2. Kimbrel over combination of Pearce, Holt, Nunez, etc I actually think both options would have been okay with majority of fan base. I hate to say it because we knew going into it BUT PABLO'S CONTRACT CONTINUES TO SCREW US OVER. It would have been nice to have his $17M.
  8. And we won the whole thing. World Champions > 10 slots down and lesser international pool money. Period.
  9. Henry alluded to Sox 'losing' money some years. I think many of us are consumed with the luxury tax implications only and I'm very guilty of that. We forget that we threw away $70M for our permanent minor leaguer. We also matched posting/signing fee for Moncada. They all add up on Sox financial statement. I wee where Henry is coming from.
  10. It's unfortunate for Kimbrel that his salary demand will have a multiplier effect of 1.425 and 1.9+ with the Sox for which he had no control over. It's also clear that Sox prioritized Eovaldi over Kimbrel. No one here really acknowledges this but Eovaldi signing in part was a hedge against both Porcello and Sale not returning for 2020 season. As it stands, we look to have three quality starters for 2020, not two.
  11. Not to mention when 90% of pitching prospects in your system are relievers it makes no sense to pay $80M, 4 years for a closer with so many expiring contracts on the horizon.
  12. Let's look at bullpen situation from another perspective. Chris Sale came in to close out the world series. Are we REALLY COMFORTABLE spending $17M (actual cost of $23M+) on Kimbrel? Really? The guy that struggled mightily to locate in September/October? It doesn't make me feel any better. Matter of fact, it makes me feel worse knowing we may be stuck with $17M for 3/4 years. Now that's the nightmare. Kimmi is ALWAYS THE VOICE OF REASON HERE. I'll have what she's having.
  13. Let's really lay out what the management thinks of bullpen. Starting Five Price $31M, Porcello $20.625, Eovaldi, $17M, Sale $15M, E Rod $5M for total of $88.625M. 8 relievers at $8.8525M. Does it seem to anyone bullpen is that critical?
  14. Yep, but we'd be on the hooks for full $14M in 2020 and 2021 but I digress. I think Moon and I agree that we can upgrade the bullpen at trade deadline. I just don't believe 'pen will blow it for the year' by 7/31/19.
  15. Nope, wrong. Cot's is very thorough. It has listed 22 contract amounts, lumped together 3 players at $1.725M, has balance of 40 man roster at $2.250M and Pablo's contract amount. 41 Players are accounted for.
  16. I dont believe he will go on DL for 4 years just to collect his money.
  17. Not that I'm hoping but I think there's a possibility exists Pedroia will retire if he has another set back in spring training. No matter what anyone is saying, I'll believe it when I see him on the field. That will free up $13M+.
  18. According to Cot's, Sox still has $8.4M before going over the ultimate hell limit of $246M. That's plenty of money for DD to do what he did last summer. We're good to go. My thought is if we fail this year, it won't be the bullpen that will derail us.
  19. Moon, you don't ever have to apologize for being a homer. I think you keep it pretty real. Same people were predicting imminent demise during the pennant stretch last year. You simply listed the upsides.
  20. Nah, I'd be little more subtle than that....
  21. Logic I read was he was pitching so poorly no way he was cheating.
  22. Only problem I see is me thinks Buch wants to pitch and not sure if he would see an opportunity with the Sox.
  23. First of all, our catching situation is fine in the context of we don't need any offense from that position. But all of you are STUPID thinking somehow Leon and Vazquez are some magicians behind the plate. Both Sale and Price were elite pitchers BEFORE they came to Boston. Who caught them? Certainly not Leon and Vazquez. Some of you make Sandy out to be the greatest defensive catcher in this century. You're joke if you think that. We don't need to fix our catching position because we are very strong at other positions. Move on.
  24. That's the dumbest thing you've ever said Moon. You are telling me that Rays going into Yankee stadium should get 1/162 of YES TV revenue each time Rays play the Yankees on the road? A TV contract based on viewership of NY city? And why in the f*** would Yankees give away 50% of gate to Rays when Yankees play in the stadium in a city with population approaching 10M people? If I'm the Rays, I would play all 162 games on the road. I'm pretty sure Mr S didn't sign up for that stupid arrangement.
