  1. I thought Duran was part of the youth movement...so this is another example that maybe better off relying on veteran talent. Okay, duly noted.
  2. Rice crossed the line when he tried to impart wisdom to a Sox prospect on hitting. Shame on him, the Sox swing for the fences philosophy has paid off gang-busters.
  3. This team is an embarrassment...no lead is safe, no pitching performance is good enough, no offense, no defense....small market approach to winning. Bad team.
  4. I really stopped watching religiously several years ago. It is tough to watch, and it shouldn't be. It should be some super highs, great rallies, long win streaks or stretches, and feel of being super competitive. I think the first Verdugo season I enjoyed watching them battle. But when you have a .500 type team and it's a lineup of kids (when do they become viable hitters?) and utility guys. They wanted to trade Rafaela a month ago to open space and he's at least entertaining. Anyway, I do watch the mini highlights but I have taped a few games and erased them once I heard the score. Angels I usually actually attend a game, can't make myself drive an hour-and-a-half and would have had Devers still been a Sox.
  5. Probably a good time to start firing the staff--pitching coach and manager...Breslow's short time as GM could get shorter too. Cora lost the clubhouse, oh wait, did he ever have the clubhouse?
  6. Well, at least Devers isn't around as it might affect the clubhouse
  7. Ortiz did not back Manny, Pedro did...Ortiz was as selfish a player as any other during his Sox playing career....Ortiz was upset at Devers because I don't think he responded to some of his personal texts...Love Big Papi, but not going to say he doesn't flip-flop on things, and let's face it--still questions that he was on a list that indicated he used PEDs--he got a free pass when a few others did not.
  8. I'd say defense for whatever reason has slipped through the cracks in the shaping of the roster. How long can the Sox be one of the worst fielding teams in MLB. At same time, the flip side are injured pitchers, under-achieving veteran pitchers, then the mostly inconsistent offense. It's a lot to fix.
  9. It's all good as far as criticizing, praising, getting excited. I just get soured every time I think or feel like oh the team is moving in the right direction. How long can we keep talking about all these prospects at the AA/AAA level. It's like some come up, some look like can't misses, then are the opposite. Others get injured, others fizzle out enough to be moved to another organization. Some feel Henry should never be under scrutiny--I'd say then accept this mediocrity because to me this is mediocrity and has been that way like you said more or less for a number of years now.
  10. I cherry picked that the Giants just took 2 of 3 v. Sox...sorry I'll stop cherrypicking. Maybe I should stop cherry-picking that the Sox are a pedestrian 40-39 when the consensus pre-season was a lot better.
  11. "They’ve hit .194 in six games since trading Devers and averaged 3.16 runs. Defensive mistakes become magnified in that environment."...worrying about Devers defense was the problem or started the acrimony between player and organization. Sure seems like a lot of positions have defensive issues. I'd rather have a consistent RBI producer and his deficiencies over the utility clown car that exists now
  12. at least he is great in the clubhouse as that is more important than producing offensively
  13. Betts, Devers..you can try to replace them, but it ends up being too much spent for lesser production...but hey Henry and Breslow can do no wrong, so I'm sure when they sign the next 300 to 700 million player they will get us another Carl Crawford or maybe they will try to sign an "exotic" and get us another Yoshida.
  14. you're right, Henry owes us nothing, Kraft owes us nothing...hey I got a great idea, let's just give up on any criticism based on championships won already...nothing matters anymore...not the 2020s in SoxLand that's for sure...B's are heading this route too....GM are the geniuses and winning doesn't matter.
  15. Story's contract is perfectly fine with a lot of you I guess...he's a gamer...whatever
  16. I made a joke of Devers traded to open up the DH spot...I'm stunned you like that option. It's dumbing down your lineup. 18.6 mil is on Henry...that he is a Castillo failure means he needs to stay away from Boston, needs to basically go away. Not embraced to open up a lineup spot...god, people are literally so rose-colored glasses in here to the point where the party line is apparently gospel. Carry on.
  17. moon, this is one of the best posts I've ever seen...ever...
  18. Okay, let's look at it another way...in the history of MLB, do you know how many clubhouses had personalites, players who hated each other--the 1970s Oakland A's led the league in drama...who cares..it's talent and what you do on the field that counts...worrying about poor Devers "affecting" young guys is silly. They are not impressionable kids, they are adults who have lives, make money, get contracts to support their families for years to come...worrying about "dissension" is as overrated as anything in sports...
  19. over the top, sure, but I can dissect a baseball game and you can say it's a defensive play, a strikeout, a pitching performance, an error, there are like 7,000 things that affect a team winning and losing...hitting a HR is instant offense and in low scoring games in today's MLB of exit velocity and upper cuts, it's a big thing. So over the top, sure.
  20. Poor Manny he disrupted the 2004 and 2007 clubhouses...and it killed them both years...NOT
  21. hey notin, long time...love your posts over the years...I think what I laugh at is "forcing the issue." I can see actions and attitude that can cause that..except here's the thing--he was under contract for how many years? Who has control, the team or the player? To me, he can pout and hit 30 jacks and drive in 100 RBI and have a high OBP/OPS...who gives a s*** about his "effect" on clubhouse..it's not like the team is .700, and oh yeah, at DH he was destroying ball and Sox have been on a pretty good run...
  22. LOL, the game was 2-0...you really going to post that his HR was meaningless based on Sox throwing a shutout?...you homer in low-scoring games, all makes a difference, having the cushion makes a difference. Stupid post (the post, not you, to be clear).
  23. It got dramatically worse in that Devers is a reliable RBI bat...his last game was quite similar when he beat the Yanks...one big blow cost the Sox on Saturday...It will go down as another tragicially stupid trade by the Henry soccer gang.
