Betts is worth the price of admission (expensive) for MLB...does something every game that shows he is a superstar...to think the Sox didn't think he was worth the large contract...incredible....all the money spent on even Story..ugh.
Well I'm on the Bruins chatboard. I used to be on the old Globe canland chatboard that existed in the late 1990s during Jimy time. I was die-hard...and I accentuate was...I can't watch this product anymore, can't accept the way since 2018 (went to game 5 WS clincher...great thrill) the organization just said that's it Sox fans...that's all we can give you. We have to go back to pre-Yaz mediocrity because well we have a soccer team and other things to worry about. I'm old too (still work) and I try to follow the Sox from time to time, but jeez I'll take Verdugo, JD, Renfroe, Sale even over this product. Makes me sick to see that lineup on April 14. sad. I will always enjoy the WS titles, but this is tough to swallow.
come on, now. Yes, it's due to injuries--but let's also be real here...this is April 14 and a team about to face a great lefty (which naturally the Sox will win 18-3) and Dalbec is 0-12, 7 Ks and you got minor leaguers occupying lineup spots. I call them as I see them...this is not a very good roster, no depth if you want to cover for the Story, Devers injuries.
is this the worst lineup in Sox history? Pretty close and certainly since pre-Yaz.
RED SOX (8-7): Duran LF, Reyes 2B, O’Neill RF, Casas 1B, Dalbec 3B, Yoshida DH, Wong C, Rafaela CF, Hamilton SS
Imagine had the Sox actually just spent the money on Betts...oh that's right, add up the other s***** signings since 2018 and it more than covers Betts contract.
It was necessary as he is the only star on the team--Devers..they have nothing left from 2018...it was a bone thrown for Sox season ticket holders to latch on to...as not much meat on that bone.
Our ownership has made it clear Sox are a low-budget franchise. It's today's world...until somebody actually wants to spend some cash other than all the money poured on to Sale, then Story.
Well one thing noticeable is clearly last year's pitching coach was a joke. Brasier remarking how the Dodgers fixed his problem almost immediately. Breslow is a pitcher's GM or a guy who obviously knows his stuff in that area as a former hurler so maybe this part of the Sox gets better with Bailey at PC. Plus young staff that can develop...these are good things for a low-budget organization like the Sox.
I completely blame ownership. Just like I have congratulated ownership in the past. Both go hand and hand. When Henry and Kraft wanted it, they were all in, then after the titles not so much.
Brady should buy the Sox...maybe someone like that would actually care about winning again. Henry, Kraft...I think both have habitually sucked since our last titles. Sure it's business, but I guess once you reach the mountain top, then it's okay to in turn mail it in.
