Dogs are adorable morons. I watched mine chase a rabbit and run headfirst into a rather stationary tool shed.
He was fine. The shed was fine. And of course, the rabbit was fine…
They could definitely be compared to Witherspoon and Mayer. As in “Jurrangelo Cijntje and Ben Williamson are nowhere near as good as Kyson Witherspoon and Marcelo Mayer.”
Or did you mean compared favorably? If so, then no, they cannot be…
I never thought he’d be a good 3b. At least not in the past 3 years.
There was a time when he was pretty good there, but if you sign any player to a one year deal, apparently MLB is real stickler about it being the current year, and not, say, 2019…
It’s amazing how many folks go out of their way to praise the Dodgers rotation like it’s some previously unseen collection of talent. Last year, they had one pitcher in the top 12 in fWAR; Philadelphia had FOUR. That’s the true best staff.
In fact, since Suarez (12th with 4.0 fWAR) is now in Boston, the Sox have more pitchers that were in the top 12 than the Dodgers did last year…
The Cubs aren’t hurting for outfielders. They already unloaded one (Owen Caissie) for pitching earlier this off-season.
The big problem with trying to deal with the Cubs here is a Matt Shaw-for-Dalton Rushing trade does make sense for both sides and leaves Boston out in the cold…
I think he only means to trade one of them. The slash means options.
The big issue with that deal is the Cubs have a really good starting OF. They’re probably the only team where Rafaela is a potential step down in CF defense. (Arguments can be made for Minnesota as well.)
The Cubs only position question mark is DH, which looks like it might be handled by roly poly Miguel Ballesteros. Suzuki did DH last year but he reportedly did not like it and he is a pretty good outfielder. (Matt Shaw might see at bats here?)
And no, they’re not trading Hoerner for Yoshida…
Springer only DHd because of an injury that kept him out of the OF. Toronto gave lots of money to Santander and his sub-.600 OPS to be the DH.
Ohtani, Alvarez, Rooker. And I ‘ll include Stanton. Off the top of my head, elite bats at DH might not be so common.
Maybe Yandy Diaz?
1. Bello. Hes a decent pitcher but quite possibly not among the Sox five best. And unlike someone like Sandoval, every team in MLB will at least listen on Bello. They might not give up what you want for him, but they won’t hang up upon hearing his name …
Rengifo seems unexciting, but he’s a pretty good bounce back candidate. He’s not much for power, maxing out in the 15-18 HR range, but he’s is a very good 2b defensively…
Paredes might be the better Fenway guy, but Hoerner is the much better overall player.
Shaw might be better than Donovan going forward as well. Certainly thr better glove. He hit really well in the second half last year, and bats right-handed…
Maybe Chicago wanted Meidroth?
Thats probably not the trade we want to undo. It’s actually ok that some guys are working out for Chicago. Thats how trades are supposed to work…
