  1. One small error - the Rays did finish last in 2016. However, all this talk of the Ray’s Way and how it will never play in Boston. Since the Rays turned everything around in 2007, they’ve been to the postseason 7 times, won 4 ALE titles, and been to 2 World Series. In that same timeframe, the Red Sox have been to the postseason 7 times, won 4 ALE titles, and been to 2 World Series. Now the Sox did win both titles, while the Rays list both. But the Sox also have 4 last place finishes to the Rays 1. And these numbers don’t include this year, where there Rays will go to another postseason, might win a fifth ALE pennant if they can make up 4 games, and are still in on the series. Is the Rays Way so bad? Not sure I see a difference in results here…
  2. Kopech’s 26, not 27. No one believes you know anything about what any scout says considering you don’t even know how to use Google to look up a player’s age. Stupidest troll ever…
  3. Here’s the thing. I’ve never been to the Trop, but it has to be better than the massively overrated Wrigley Field. I’ve been to Wrigley a lot, and it is a fun place to take in a game. But it also is really beaten down park with almost no amenities and the location is sn awesome place for a condo. Not so much for a ballpark that seats 40,000 people (not to mention the additional 1,000 or so on the rooftops). Because Wrigley has NO PARKING! None. Not a single spot. I don’t mind taking the train in, but it would be a more pleasurable ride if 39,999 other fans didn’t feel the same way about it. And I like Cubs’ fans. I married one. We spawned another. But I gotta tell you - NOBODY DRINKS LIKE A CUB FAN AT WRIGLEY. You just can’t stop them. You’d think $15 Natty Lights would be a deterrent. Nope. They just keep inhaling that second rate turpentine until they make beer cup snakes that span the bleachers. But I digress…
  4. Don’t trade Walter! The Sox might only have 2 LHP on the 40 man next year, and the other one is Darwinzon!
  5. That’s a good point. Who was the last Rule 5 player the Sox lost that amounted to anything? Was it Ryan Pressly?
  6. That’s different. That was put in place to cripple Mickey Mantle…
  7. Well I hardly consider a Jon Berti trade a depletion of resources. I actually think the Sox are in a rare position where they have more MLB-ready pitchers than hitters/position players. The OF is particularly weak at the upper levels. Next year (if not sooner) the Sox could see the MLB debuts of Mata, Walter, Murphy and Ward to go along with this year’s class of Bello, Winckowski, Crawford and Kelly. But what position players? Valdez? Anyone else? (Not counting Wong, as he debuted last year.)
  8. My top choice would be bring back Bogaerts. I’d like to see a return to OBP, with whick Kike brings back very little whereas Bogaerts is in the top ten in MLB over the past 3 years. If the Sox do bring in an FA, Kolten Wong and Adam Frazier are the closest matches, but neither really excels at OBP. Jon Berti from the Marlins is an interesting target as he does get on base and is arb eligible in Miami, which often makes a player available. That he plays everywhere certainly helps and fits the mold of numerous players (Taylor, Muncy, J Turner) Friedman grabbed in LA to supplement that team.
  9. Hey I don’t drive that wagon train. I just watch it go by a lot. Yes his fragility could leave him in a part time role at 2b. Cora does appear to be a big fan, as bd lately Arroyo has been showing us why. I would not be surprised to see a Valdez/Arroyo platoon at 2b next season. (Ok maybe a little.)
  10. Nothing was worse than that Pole on the Hill in Houston. What were they thinking? “Hey let’s put a pole in the middle of the outfield for no reason except maybe to see if someone runs into it at top speed!” “Make it safer. Put it on a hill.” “Fine, party pooper. But can I at least still put the alligator pit at third base?”
  11. Which has its uses, but sometimes it’s flat out wrong. Outfield defense, for example, cannot be judged by watching games on TV. Unless the OF is really really bad. Like Duran bad…
  12. I’m not even saying it’s good. I got the impression out was out in the middle of nowhere. I’ve seen plenty of other stadiums right off the highway (but not Fenway, as I-90 is close but has no convenient exit), but I couldn’t tell why it was such a bad stadium. Is the traffic awful? Bad parking? If it’s either of these, is it worse than Wrigley? (Not possible.) I just do t know and as it was November, I couldn’t find out in a timely manner. I’m sure it’s something. mvp complains about it and he lives down there somewhere…
  13. I see it simply as BP and RF or LF. But Bloom is very unpredictable. He might wind up trading Verdugo or Pivetta and just messing with my head. Not like we saw the trades of Benintendi nor Renfroe coming…
  14. The Sox DFAd Cordero last year despite his having an option left. This process required he be exposed to waivers. https://bosoxinjection.com/2021/10/21/red-sox-designating-franchy-cordero-doesnt-spoil-andrew-benintendi-trade/
  15. Unless that one year is like this one with his .640 OPS in his last 160 PA…
  16. What is so horrible about that location? I was in St. Pete last November and didn’t see the problem. It’s right off the highway. What the big deal?
  17. If the Rays don’t care about winning, they certainly hide their apathy well. They’ve been to the World Series as many times as the Red Sox in the past 14 years…
  18. For the record, while Notin predicts Cander to leave, he/I very much want him back…
  19. ThT Bloom keeps DFAing says all you need to know about how he feels, too…
  20. Wow. The Mariners are poised to make the postseason for the first time since the Astros played in Enron Field, and the trash talk has already commenced…
  21. Depends on how much you drink…
  22. Sure they worry about big picture finances. But they all probably think they know more about making a competitive team. And they all probably take into account the long term picture with long term deals, unlike fans who often espouse the credo “worry about next year next year,” which, while it will never happen, is fine for fans to say….
  23. I’m willing to bet they have zero influence. I might be wrong, but I think most people capable of getting a job as MLB GM think they know more about building an MLB team than any fan. And in most cases, they’re probably right…
  24. The diehards are still watching and going. The fair weather types are behaving as always…
  25. In this case, wooden like in western movies. Not picket. I’m not miserable or anything…
