  1. You are the only one constantly referring to it..
  2. Any real discount probably disappeared 3 years ago when there were arbitration years to buy out and Devers had legitimate time to worry about injury….
  3. Luzardo would be our top pitching prospect. Assuming he wasn’t already in Fenway…
  4. He’s actually one of the best defensive CFs in MLB. What he isn’t is a leadoff hitter. That needed to stop back in April…
  5. Duran has shown us Kike’s true value…
  6. Don’t get hung up on pitching roles. The team just needs to target the best pitchers they can afford (via either cash or prospects) and let the roles work themselves out. And the whole 1-2-3-4-5 nomenclature for pitchers is a bit silly to me. I’ve been asking for years on multiple forums what an ace is. No one seems to know…
  7. He lets some of us call him Pedro…
  8. Absolutely the drop off in Kike’s performance is a factor. He was instrumental in the success last year and his down year is an equal factor this season. But this is all incredibly obvious stuff. And I’d still bring Kike back in a heartbeat…
  9. No. You’re as bad as me. It’s ok. No one expects you to know. And not knowing doesn’t mean you still can’t criticize his execution of that plan. Or the results it obtains…
  10. And maybe you need to do the same…
  11. Kike had a bad year. He was a good player last year. What’s the point here?
  12. Hey I honestly have no idea what a plan looks like. I take someone like Speier’s brief summary, and I think it’s often a far-reaching philosophy. And THAT is why I don’t criticize it. I only criticize short term plans that involve heavy spending and leaving nothing but destruction in their wake…
  13. Hey I’d like to see a return to OBP and jacking up opposing pitcher’s pitch counts. And defense OBP and defense. That’s what this team needs. Remember the old days when the e Sox had a leadoff hitter?
  14. I admit I don’t. And by some massive stroke of luck, my job doesn’t require it. But if you think it’s as simple as Sign Player A and if not Sign Player B, I can promise you it’s more complicated. And what you call a “plan” involved far, far more hope than anything Bloom did…
  15. It really will depend what his plan actually is. It isn’t “we need a shortstop. Get Trea Turner. If that fails, get Dansby Swanson.” If the plan is some sort of 5 year reach to get a farm like the Dodgers, then why evaluate in three? Or even 5? Part of this is sports fans in general are very impatient. Especially after tasting success recently…
  16. That’s a plan for building a Yahoo! fantasy baseball team in a re-draft league, not an MLB organization. The only thing I know about building an MLB organization is you don’t do that….
  17. Would you prefer a catcher who enjoys his own company in his car or a closer who throttles his child’s mother and then lets off steam by blasting a few rounds into some perfectly innocent drywall?
  18. So what does a plan to build a team look like? Or what makes you conclude he has no plan? And I say this honestly not knowing…
  19. This obviously isn’t going to last, but if McGuire can just bring his glove and bat ninth, I have no issues with him starting in 2023…
  20. And exactly what evidence would you look for to recognize either? The ones out here on this board recommending moves, we’re the ones without plans. And of us if not all are aware of that…
  21. You missed the point. Yes last night was frustrating. But that kind of thing does happen. Blaming it on the GM as being “poorly constructed” when this team had injury replacements at 1b, 2b, cf and RF speaks more about the frustration and desire to blame this about the team..
  22. Right. No team in history has ever done that before. Didn’t Epstein’s Red Sox have similar frustrations back in the 2005 ALDS against the White Sox?
  23. He’s contractually forbidden from biking with Chris Sale…
  24. Best bets are arbitration eligible pitchers on low budget, non-competitive teams. That makes the most likely candidates to be Pedro Lopez and Jesus Luzardo, from what I can see…
  25. His 4.12 in 9 career starts does put him a lot closer to Mike Maddux than to Greg, but I’m not sure I’d call him “terrible.” If that’s terrible, then what adjective describes Gerrit Cole and his 4.60 ERA since the All Star break?
