  1. Fred did. And has repeatedly You said he nailed it again…
  2. You do realize the signing of Price - frugal or not - actually counters Fred’s point about not spending since Lester. Whether or not these were the right moves is another matter entirely…
  3. It’s kind of ridiculous to cite Dombrowski Era or Pre-Dombrowski Era examples to support Henry’s cheapness. Certainly from 2016-2019, he was the top spender in MLB. Even 2020 through 2022, they were still in the top 5 or 6 teams in spending. They did get an undeserved “cheap” label because they didn’t go crazy adding new mega-contracts every year. In 2023, they did finally drop down close to the middle of the pack and stayed there through 2025 (and probably will for 2026). But they also made more postseason appearances in 2023 though 2025 than they did from 2019 though 2022, when they were spending more…
  4. Danny Coulombe still needs work…
  5. The Lester offer was a long time ago back with Cherington. That’s like 3 full GMs/CBOs ago. It’s about as relevant as the Babe Ruth trade now…
  6. Also, Contreras runs like an adult human being. Alonso runs like an over-caffeinated one year old. Note: If you do have access to a one year old child, do not give him or her caffeine, as it is very bad for them. If you feel the need to see how an over-caffeinated one year old runs, just watch Pete Alonso try to leg out a double…
  7. Eaton has his uses and shouldn’t be DFAd. But so does Yoshida. And since Eaton has an option remaining, he can be sent to Worcester, and the Sox can keep both of them…
  8. Ah, comparing projections to actual statistics to support your argument. Darth Harmony has taught you well, young sith. Now why not try again using Yoshida’s 109 career wRC+ against Eaton’s projected wRC+ of 66 to 89? Heck why not use Eaton’s career wRC+ as opposed to his from last year? No amount of your Dark Side Statistical Fudging will make Eaton a better hitter than Yoshida. Look into your heart. You know it to be true…
  9. Duran can be moved to the OF into LF or CF if Anthony or Rafaela get injured, with Yoshida taking over at DH. If Abreu gets injured, Duran to LF, Anthony to RF, and Yoshida to DH…
  10. I think that will sort itself out. Last year the Sox lost Abreu and Anthony for prolonged stretches. If something similar happens, I would much rather see Yoshida join the lineup over Eaton. Id also rather see Yoshida in the on deck circle over anyone else on the Sox bench in a key pinch hitting situation. Can’t get excited sbout IKF or Monasterio there…
  11. You would rather see Eaton start games over Yoshida? That’s just wrong. And I completely disagree with that pecking order. Romy will likely assume his normal role platooning, most likely with Mayer but if an OF gets hurt, quite possibly with Yoshida…
  12. Unless an outfielder gets hurt…
  13. My question is - would people prefer Yoshida go off in the WBC so the Sox can trade him? Or because he could help the Sox win more games?
  14. I bet the Sox cannot dump that contract..
  15. And put a cold day in the middle of August?!? Actually, might not be a bad idea…
  16. It’s why he does yet need a clear path to playing time…
  17. As a batter? Sure. But what about as a guy who isn’t going to injure himself performing mundane baseball activities?
  18. His bWAR is trending down as his games trend down from 130 to 60 to 30. You can’t get wins if you don’t play…
  19. Because who didn’t live a post-season lineup with Sogard, Gonzalez and Eaton? Keeping Yoshida does make senses, despite my suspicion Breslow prefer not have him…
  20. Right. They should start cutting people. Get down to 3 outfielders. That way, if one gets hurt we still have two!! But more important, it frees up bench spots for mediocre multi-position players every fan wants to see more of!! Who didn’t get hit and bothered when Ed Jurak was in the lineup? And don’t get me started on Luis Rivera…
  21. I know, huh? Baserunners! When will this team learn?
  22. I think Campbell will be better, but is he? Romy has a career OPS + of 102; Yoshida has a 109. Hopefully Durbin will be. But so far he has but one season under his belt to assess him on…
  23. It’s got nothing to do with team building. Do players get hurt because of poor roster construction? Would fewer get hurt if they wore their hard hats? Know what’s bad team building? Dealing away your depth for no reason then realizing you need it…
  24. Except that most of those guys are much worse hitters…
  25. If Yoshida declines a demotion, he cannot be demoted. Money only enters the picture if they DFA/release him. Then, yes, since he will go unclaimed, Boston will be on the hook for 100% of his salary until he signs elsewhere. At that point, the signing team pays the league minimum and Boston pays the balance…
