  1. Did he ever do that with Tampa?
  2. Not until they make the title page on Yahoo!
  3. I just don’t get extending Darvish and Machado while Juan Soto hangs in the balance…
  4. You know it’s spring when Duran debuts his new swing…
  5. Wacha to the Padres…
  6. On paper, 2023 is vastly superior to all of those. Unfortunately in reality, paper is also roughly equivalent to the durability of the arms atop the 2023 rotation as well…
  7. Story isn’t Machado, whose defense is augmented by a special throwing skill. Story always got by on superior range and an average to slightly below arm…
  8. Or if the visitors only scored one run in their half. What this rule does now is brings back sac bunts (situationally) and creates numerous intentional walk scenarios that need to be considered, which can occur even in the ninth…
  9. If you count your “” symbols, they’re equal. Using this extremely rudimentary (and wildly speculative) method, there is no change.
  10. And I would imagine that’s what they’re doing…
  11. This rule has grown on me. It adds a certain strategic element to extra innings that I like…
  12. Except Jeff Luhnow, who is working for a Mexican soccer team of which he is a part owner. Luhnow is the guy who built that non-stop Astros farm system…
  13. Except Baltimore, who had a losing record against the Red Sox…
  14. If we want it geographic, Boston would be in a league with both NY teams and the Tri-City teams. Toronto is closer to Cleveland/Detroit anyway
  15. On what planet is Pittsburgh closer to Boston than Baltimore is? And what about DC? Gotta keep Philly/Balt/DC together if it’s based on geography…
  16. I’d just assume get rid of divisions altogether. Two leagues of 15 teams each. Play everyone in your league 9or 10 times and play the rest against the other league (162 is not a good number for scheduling equally). Top 6 in each league make the postseason…
  17. I’m ok with that. It was fun while it lasted. The only thing I like about inter league play is it doubles my opportunities to go to Sox games…
  18. The schedule should be in effect long after 2023. A long term change shouldn’t be evaluated using short term criteria…
  19. Playing more games against the Yankees is better. The “easier schedule” thing is a conditional bonus. The AL East is not going to be the toughest division every season. But with more wild cards up for grabs, heavy division schedules make less sense. It just adds to the potential rewards teams can reap from playing in a weak division, and penalizes other teams for playing in a stronger one…
  20. Coaching T ball!!! Best time to coach kids, before they counter your every advice with “But my dad said…”
  21. So… staying home seems like a fun option. For now…
  22. JBJ also want the entirety of that trade. We won’t ever know all the logic that went into that trade, but it’s not ridiculous think they wanted JBJ for some defense and liked Hamilton and Binelas as players they hoped to get for a player who was released one year earlier but played well enough to earn a significant raise. If Bloom wanted to build something of a farm system, trading MLB players at the suspected peak is going to happen. And if they had any designs on someone like Suzuki, the positions certainly made sense…
  23. I don’t think so either, but his reluctance to part with anyone still on the 40 man roster does mean he’s going to wait for openings to happen. Unless he can deal Duran and/or Dalbec…
  24. All my remaining bullpen options signed in a 24 hour stretch. Not sure who is left to get excited about. Maybe Matt Wisler or Matt Moore? Not exactly players who make my stomach flummox and my liver quiver…
  25. No. Taking those winning percentages tells you what would have happened last year, when they mattered. The Sox will benefit somewhat from free games vs the AL East simply because they played so poorly in those games and they played a huge chunk of them when the entire rotation was on the IL.
