I’d just assume get rid of divisions altogether. Two leagues of 15 teams each. Play everyone in your league 9or 10 times and play the rest against the other league (162 is not a good number for scheduling equally). Top 6 in each league make the postseason…

Playing more games against the Yankees is better. The “easier schedule” thing is a conditional bonus. The AL East is not going to be the toughest division every season. But with more wild cards up for grabs, heavy division schedules make less sense. It just adds to the potential rewards teams can reap from playing in a weak division, and penalizes other teams for playing in a stronger one…

JBJ also want the entirety of that trade. We won’t ever know all the logic that went into that trade, but it’s not ridiculous think they wanted JBJ for some defense and liked Hamilton and Binelas as players they hoped to get for a player who was released one year earlier but played well enough to earn a significant raise. If Bloom wanted to build something of a farm system, trading MLB players at the suspected peak is going to happen. And if they had any designs on someone like Suzuki, the positions certainly made sense…

No. Taking those winning percentages tells you what would have happened last year, when they mattered. The Sox will benefit somewhat from free games vs the AL East simply because they played so poorly in those games and they played a huge chunk of them when the entire rotation was on the IL.
