  1. That clinches it - he cares what fans think. Of course that kind of thing really only applies to season ticket holders. Far too many tickets get sold through second party sellers who up the price as they please. The Sox themselves used to run one, but I don’t know if they do any more.
  2. Yeah their credibility comes in waves, but those waves lately haven’t had much Devers Love…
  3. Maybe not, but that doesn’t mean he want to shell out a billion dollars every four years. Did he or did he not recently comment about ball players being expensive?
  4. Have you read the game threads lately?
  5. The notion of trimming payroll and winning is absolutely the goal, but it’s not as easy as a lot of folks seem to think. We out here in Internet Forum World seem to think it’s very easy. Just read this thread. All we had to do was bring back Eovaldi and Wacha and not sign Kluber. The easy argument against that is that’s exactly what 2022 looked like, and the subsequent argument is a lot of people are basing Wacha’s four year deal on one good month. Hanley Ramirez looked like a good deal after one month, too. I have no idea how long Bloom sold Henry on his plan. But it’s possible Henry is more on board than most fans. I’m sure the booing bothers him less than you think; he’s saving enough money to hire his own cheering section…
  6. Do you think Henry wants another $240mill payroll?
  7. So do I hear a “why didn’t we bring back Rich Hill”? I had no idea the 2022 Sox were this popular. They certainly weren’t in 2022…
  8. Houck’s been mostly starting for four years now. He didn’t start in 2021 and 2022 because the 2023 rotation needed help. This is the Sox giving him every opportunity to be a starter over multiple seasons…
  9. Yes but that wasn’t the question. If he was theoretically DFAd, would he be able to refuse assignment and declare free agency?
  10. “You played it for her. You can play it for me.” That’s the actual line. Rick never says “Play it again, Sam”. Seen it enough times, much like the Dalbec Show. (Coming back full circle here.)
  11. I don’t think he has options and can’t be demoted without a DFA and waivers. And even then, he might be able to declare free agency. (Or not. I don’t know those rules fully. Little help?)
  12. I like Houck in the pen and always have, but for some reason the Sox are trying to force him into the rotation. I don’t think he is there because they ignored the rotation. I think he’s there because they want him there. I don’t like that move either…
  13. It means don’t expect lots of money thrown at it. Expect changes in usage…
  14. Kike isn’t playing well, but the criticism was about clubhouse chemistry and how everyone who left was important to it and everyone who stayed wasn’t. It’s fair to ask how we know who was and wasn’t important to clubhouse chemistry. Also how important said chemistry was on a 78-84 team…
  15. And you know this how? He brought back Hernandez. Are you saying Hernandez was unimportant? And Eovaldi departed via free agency, meaning he had some say in it. He received a QO; he declined it. For a lower AAV and an additional year in Texas. He wanted more years, but one thing he has absolutely shown throughout his career is he’s a very high injury risk. In his three actual full season in Boston, he only pitched a full season one time…
  16. I don’t think that’s legal anymore…
  17. That’s the spirit! Good try…
  18. The rules define, but the umpires interpret it. But at that point, their job is to create an invisible three-dimensional box to hat changes with every hitter and determine whether or not a 90-100mph pitch so much as touched any part of that box. It’s a crazy task to expect to be done consistently, let alone perfectly. Frankly, I think most of the umpires not named Angel or CB usually do an outstanding job at this…
  19. Then keep saying it!!!
  20. Not even remotely the point…
  21. No matter how many times I watch “Casablanca”, Rick never gets the girl. I’m well past the point of wondering “will he choose Ilsa THIS time?” And so it goes with Dalbec. Demote Casas to accommodate Duvall. Duran has earned a chance to stay and play more than Casas..
  22. Demote Casas until there’s a need again. Casas would play full time, and, whether or not he realizes it, 1b is his for the immediate future, since there isn’t much between him and Kavadas, who isn’t exactly a sure thing himself…
  23. Separating offense from defense - did Manny’s glove kill the Sox? Yoshida will never hit like Manny, but he is in a lineup that can make up for his miscues, too. In the Big Team Picture, does it matter which hitter brings the runs back? (It’s certainly nice when it’s the defensive question mark and provides him job security.). But overall LF is creta the easiest OF spot to hide a bad glove, and probably the second easiest position overall (not counting DH)..,
  24. What about Nick Yorke and his .884 OPS in AA?
  25. But you are applying universal logic and stating it as if it only applied to the Red Sox…
