  1. I would have been more honest. “He’s actually 32, but if it helps, he’s very immature.”
  2. Very weak. Referring to the impression, not the joke. I like twist ending punchlines after a proper setup, with my standar Comedy Rule of Three…
  3. I’m fine with all those pitchers I mentioned. I’m not expecting Cy Young candidates from them. Bello and Crawford are very likely just gassed. Bello is at his career high in IP already, and Crawford is at his most since A ball. And A ball IP aren’t the same as MLB IP. (Although A-ball Crawford probably also has very little in common with MLB Crawford. Houck has sown himself to be an effective 5-6 IP starter. That’s actually fine in todays game of 8 man bullpens. And Whitlock just needs to be left in the bullpen, where he has been very effective…
  4. I’d unload Story first. But I doubt that happens. Bloom probably overpaid for him, but this off-season just about every free agent was a massive overpayment. Except Kodai Senga. I thought the Sox best target would be Brandon Nimmo, but he wound up getting 8 years $160mill. Yoshida’s contract at least isn’t insanely long. Four more years tops.
  5. Extend Verdugo….
  6. The Sox have those - Bello, Crawford, Houck, Whitlock. They need some bulk guys atop the rotation. At least one, maybe two…
  7. So she’s a glutton for punishment with low standards! She have a sister?
  8. Your infield defense sucks…
  9. If the point is to clear up salary for better use, then maybe Yoshida isn’t the guy to move. Especially if the Sox pay a substantial amount…
  10. But she has learned it since…
  11. He should have been extended much earlier…
  12. … with a pinch of salt..
  13. Duvall probably doesn’t come back. If Rafaela makes the team as the starting CF, Abreu should go to Worcester and await inevitable injuries…
  14. So you think a Yoshida trade won’t involve eating money?
  15. Trading shouldn’t be about unloading a player. Will you get back a better player/pitcher for Yoshida or Duran? Especially since many are focusing on Duran’s most important skill - the ability to be rostered at the MLB minimum for another season.
  16. I assume you’ve never had molasses in January in Florida…
  17. 20HRs and only a .331OBP?!
  18. Pedro Guerrero, June, 1985 and July, 1985 Guerrero hit 15HRs in June, 1985 with a 1.297 OPS. He followed it up with a 1.386OPS in July, despite only hometing 4 times that month…
  19. Shane Spencer, Sept 1998 42PA 8HR 21RBI 1.583OPS This was also notable as it was Spencer’s first full month in MLB…
  20. Bob Bailey July 1970 72 PA 10 HR 28RBI 1.593OPS
  21. Juan Soto only has a .713 OPS this month. Has his luster worn off too?
  22. Absolutely. That and a bunch of metrics. Of course, they pay rarely (re: almost never) do the eye test by watching games on television…
  23. When I suggested tha Sox call up Rafaela to play SS until Stiry got back, you assured me it would NEVER happen because he was the future CF. It took a few months. But you were wrong. Now comes the part where you don’t admit it…
  24. 1. So did you see Rafaela was called up and started at shortstop? Maybe you missed that; I’m not sure if there were highlights. 2. I seem to recall someone poopooing a Joey Gallo suggestion last year to help fill a massive defensive void, and doing so for batting average reasons. So what again was the Sox biggest problem this year? 3. This is more about what the Sox should do within their limitations. Not predictions.
  25. Is Nola really a top tier pitcher? His ERA+ over the last 3 years is 103, basically league average. He’s also 30 years old, and therefore not likely to get better. To me, depends on the deal. 5 years or more at anything over $20mill - hard, hard, hard pass. But I wouldn’t mind Nola on a shorter deal. The shorter the better…
