    I’m going to have to defend Cora somewhat. 1. It’s a safe bet Cora knew Kluber was bad, but it’s not like he had tons of options and the Sox were/still are in no position to jettison pitching depth. 2. Again, not much depth. And really, someone has to start these games. Paxton didn’t pitch for a while to start the year, and throwing Crawford/Bello/Whitlock etc all into starting roles and expecting 150 IP from each was a recipe for disaster. 3. I’d like to defend Cora here. I get giving Kike a chance. But that he kept trotting Kike out at shortstop long after Rotoworld said the experiment was over just didn’t say much. Sorry, but no MLB manager ever should get out-managed by Rotoworld…

    Well, despite being relatively close, does this latest injury to Triston McKenzie push the Guardians into “Sell” mode. The talking heads on MLB Network seem to think so. (I’m not as convinced as they are.) But if the Guardians do sell, is Bieber available? (Talking heads say “yes”). If so, Shane comes with the additional year of control. BTV called Rafaela plus Yorke a “minor overpay” but probably a reasonable offer that at the very least, keeps the conversation going. Should (also, would) the Sox make that move?

    Not only are the scholarships unlikely, but I’m not so sure I want my daughter tied down to the rigors of the schedule many schools impose on their athletes…

    1. I was right. I’m not surprised. I suppose that the allegation was limited to one sexual assault charge almost qualifies as surprising. 2. In an article about s sexual assault, why on Earth does CNN end with the results of a basketball game? WTF?

    I’m sure Braves’ fans were singing round the campfire at the acquisitions of Duvall (.750), Pederson (.718), Rosario (.685) , and Soler (.658). And somewhere in that song was the lyric “Ronald Acuna who?”

    I am unaware of the rest of McGregor’s night, although nothing would surprise me. Did he get drunk and beat up a group of nuns? I’m not shocked. Did he, using only his hands, disembowel a litter of puppies? Appalled? Yes. Surprised? Not even remotely. Did he declare war on Nebraska and march through the state punching out every individual he saw? I think at this point I’d actually be surprised if he didn’t…

    Kind of hoping Bloom decides against stockpiling outfielders and is able to land an arm or two. Unlike the ‘21 Braves, the Sox currently are a tad overstocked in the outfield…

    The point is there are clearly precedents for teams being .500 at this point or later and still ultimately making/winning the World Series. I doubt the 37-35 Phillies or 56-56 Braves looked any better or full of life while compiling those mediocre records…

    The Sox are a .500 team that odd 6 games over when Kike doesn’t play SS, so not sure what conclusion Cora draws from that. “We need to get better when Kike plays SS!!”
