    That is a valid point, coupled with how many potential sellers have a player worth acquiring. Especially one it makes sense to unload. That’s why the Cardinals might be the most active sellers. Montgomery, Flaherty and possibly even Wainwright could be on the move…

    Reportedly it was more guaranteed money, but the Rangers’ offer does have some incentives that can bring it up to a 3 year $63mill deal. If so, Nate simply bet on himself and it’s working. But given his injury history, that was no sure bet. Unless he simply has a desire to return to Texas, I’m surprised he did bet on himself. (Although realistically what was he risking? Not like taking the Texas deal and missing the incentives meant the Eovaldi family would be reliant on food stamps.)

    Whoever threw that deal together must like BTV. Values came out to 78.3 to 78.2. If I’m the White Sox, I don’t make it. Already likely losing Giolito, so dealing Cease without getting back notable pitching at a time when the AL Central is winnable for all is a deal breaker. Casas for Vaughn is just a guess work deal. Rafaela is a great glove add, but his two best positions are manned by my best player (Robert) and my best prospect (Colson Montgomery). Re-alignments are possible, but ultimately this deal boils down to Cease for Rafaela and Yorke. And it strips the White Sox of pitching at a time when they need it most. However, it’s not a bad deal and if Lou is replaced with a more notable arm - Drohan? Mata (if healthy)? Wikelman? - it would be much tougher to turn down…

    Strider and Elder have been great, but bear in mind every MLB team, each fully stocked with an arsenal of professional scouts, passed on these guys 125 and 155 times respectively. There may have been some much involved as well as there was no 2020 college season for anyone to evaluate them…

    If both teams top prospect lists are loaded with pitching, they’re both very likely to try internal solutions first. Because unlike trades, if they don’t work out in time, those moves can be undone. Paxton might be Pitcher of the Month, but you have to also figure both teams to be interested in a few other obvious fire sale candidates - namely Giolito, Snell, Flaherty, Montgomery, Cobb, Lynn and Wacha…

    You’re claiming to be misquoted because of a perceived difference between “top priority” and “priority”? Seriously? And pray tell what do the day-to-day operations at FSG have to do with the Red Sox? Do Kennedy and Bloom raise money for NHL licensure? In fact, wouldn’t a successful Red Sox franchise attract more investors? Do you think Henry doesn’t believe that?
