  1. That argument didn’t even make sense…
  2. 1. As a good shortstop, he is the best option at a defensive weak spot. 2. If he’s called up for defense, who cares how he hits? The guy he’s replacing is fielding poorly with a .660 OPS. If he fields well, how far below that .660 is acceptable?
  3. Cora used him smartly to get Fraley, but didn’t need to trot him out the following inning…
  4. Why not C: Wong 1b: Casas 2b: Hamilton 3b: Devers SS: Rafaela LF: Yoshida CF: Duran (eventually Duvall) RF: Verdugo DH: Turner BN: McGuire, Hernandez, Tapia, Refsnyder
  5. Based on this response, I’m not so sure you’re all that familiar with Jake Diekman or Trevor Kelley. Or Heath Hembree. Or the Tampa bullpen in general..
  6. Did you the following pitchers are currently in the Tampa bullpen - Jake Diekman, Trevor Kelley and Zack Littell? And earlier this year they had a cameo from Heath Hembree?
  7. Zack Littell!! Or is he a Tampa guy?
  8. [sigh] Put him at shortstop. His glove plays there, too…
  9. Winckowski and Crawford. Neither handled smaller workloads all that well last year. And that was s as starting pitchers…
  10. The Sox lost the last two games that were heavily influenced by poor defense. And yet the Minor League Defensive Player of the Year sits down in Portland, seemingly wasting his 40 man roster spot. Let everyone else do the hitting…
  11. But hey, when you’re down (or up) 10-1, who else do you use?
  12. Winckowski and Crawford shouldn’t be counted for 2-3 IP too often..,
  13. That depends on how many mop up arms you carry…
  14. On the bright side, 15-5 at home vs everyone else…
  15. In my little mind, the Sox rotation could be Sale, Luzardo, Paxton, Whitlock, Bello. Push Houck back to the pen with Jansen, Martin, Schreiber, Crawford, Winckowski, Rodriguez and Bernardino. Of course that depends on everyone getting healthy and Miami accepting Ceddane Rafaela (plus?) for Jesus Luzardo (which Miami should)…
  16. Not by design so much as by application. As the roles of relievers expand, they will be valued more. And not by just Fangraphs…
  17. I mean, this was a guy who, when he tried to say out was a mistake to trade Benintendi, could only come up with the selling points that Andrew was a “homegrown World Series Champion.” By that logic, the Sox should have kept Workman and Barnes, too…
  18. I still like the idea of putting Houck, Whitlock, Winckowski, Crawford and Schreiber in the bullpen (with Martin and Jansen). But it’s not remarkably practical…
  19. 1. Tampa starting pitcher stats get skewed by usage of the opener. 2. It really is a bullpen game now, but there has to be some balance with not over relying on the bullpen…
  20. You’re arguing with someone who repeatedly adds a year or two to a Sox prospect and then calls it a fact. Please tell me you don’t think his quotes from a scouting report on Drogon are real, too…
  21. It really is. Injuries have played a part…
  22. And that 15-13 includes going 0-8 vs the NL Central…
  23. Not really sure why Cora liked playing Refsnyder vs RHP…
  24. Actually it saved one run, since a run did score on the DP…
