  1. No one would have had to do anything like that in Boston if Dombrowski just signed Betts to an extension…
  2. Depending on their budget, next year could be the last year of the run for the Phillies. After 2024, the Phillies have over $570mill committed on future contracts but only $36mill of it is dedicated pitching. Specifically to Taijuan Walker. MLB Pipeline ranks their farm 23rd. They do have two very good pitching protects in Andrew Psinter and Mick Abel. Painter missed this season with Tommy John surgery…
  3. That’s a simple plan. An overhaul is possible…
  4. DD only signed Schwarber, Castellanos and Turner. And there probably are more of them than you can possibly imagine. Of course we’re talking about Philadelphia sports fans here. They’re going to complain no matter what…
  5. He was injured or coming off one when extended. But historically at the time his injury history was far less. He hasn’t even had his first TJ back then…
  6. Asking a serious question - why do you belittle baseball fans for talking about baseball and for getting excited when their team is doing well?
  7. Maybe. It’s definitely over in Milwaukee…
  8. If you trade for them before March, you could get the draft pick back…
  9. Some believe the Sox need a right-handed bat as well…
  10. I don’t think either is a bad move, although Matt Chapman might be a top 5 free agent and therefore very costly. Not sure if Adames will be available but that depends on how Milwaukee handles their final year arb guys (like Burnes, too) in the aftermath of hearing Woodruff is out for next year…
  11. Seems like Old Red gets a little desperate to pat himself on the back. This is shown even more with how he disappears when he looks wrong and how he twists and fictionalizes others’ words to discredit them while promoting himself…
  12. I will call that Exhibit B concerning your reading comprehension…
  13. I agree it’s unlikely, but I hope if something unforeseen happens like Milwaukee makes Willy Adames available, the Sox don’t avoid checking in on this because they won’t move Story back to 2b…
  14. I’m starting to realize just how bad your reading comprehension is…
  15. It’s not a wish. I’m just acknowledging the possibility that whoever is in charge will have ideas that differ from last year’s lineup. And if the Sox do hire someone who shakes up the infield, it’s pretty doubtful Cora will put up a fuss. Most likely he will go along…
  16. But the experience seems to put them on the rotating carousel of MLB GMs/CBOs. The only one to not go in to run another team is Bloom, and that could only be because it hasn’t had time to happen yet…
  17. He certainly is not a present day one. It’s really his only chance…
  18. So they’re going to continue with obvious mistakes? That’s not exactly a winning endorsement against my ideas. But even Sean McDonough said Story should be the second baseman. I can’t speak for Story if he has a preference one way out the other, but whoever the Sox hire might like the idea of returning him to second. Even if it’s improbable, it’s not impossible like you say…
  19. So was Epstein…
  20. It’s possible but that’s not your call. And the guy who brought him in to play shortstop is no longer with the organization. The fact remains the Sox could hire a new CBO who views Story as a better option for 2b than SS…
  21. And he might not be. It all depends on how whoever ids calling the shots feels about him. If you want a RH 2b with good OBP skills and some pop, he’s very good choice. If you want someone with great to elite defensive skills, he falls further down the ladder. He also might simply be too expensive. Or the new boss might decide Story was a better 2b solution and focus on a SS. So yes, Urias might be non-tendered…
  22. Also Reyes isn’t an everyday player. And you dramatically shortchange Urias as a hitter. He has a very selective batting eye…
  23. The Sox drafted Duran and announced him as an outfielder. He did play 20 games in Low A ball at 2b, but I don’t think they impacted the decision to move him to outfield. (I can’t even verify if they were his first 20 games.). It’s actually not uncommon to draft a player at one position with the intent of moving him to another. I once listened to an interview with Brandon Inge and he talked about getting drafted. He got the call saying he was a second round selection of the Detroit Tigers, received his congrats, and hung up. Several minutes later, Inge got another call and was told “by the way, you’re going to be playing catcher.” As Inge had only played shortstop in his days at VCU and never even thought about catcher, he had some mixed emotions. In similar fashion , it wouldn’t surprise me if the Sox folks at the time felt Duran’s speed would be better utilized in the outfield before they even selected him…
  24. I’m ok with Kim Ng…
  25. My qualifications speak for themselves. They have to. I have no idea what they are…
