    It’s probably worth noting Franco is extraordinarily wealthy and often players like him are targeted in schemes, scams and crimes for their money. We’ve heard stories of player’s family members getting abducted (such as with Elias Diaz) or players themselves getting abducted (Wilson Ramos) and even killed outright (Luis Valbuena) in the course of crimes. I’m reserving judgment and letting MLB sort this one out. And I say this as a parent of a daughter a little older than the alleged victim…

    Endorsement deals are different and can often be voided at the discretion of the negotiating party. I’m sure we have a lawyer on this forum better suited to explain it than me…

    MLB has the power under the Uniform Player’s Clause Section 7a to void any contract if a player commits certain crimes. I believe this was exercised for former Pirates’ closer Flipe Vazquez. The league can also suspend him without pay even without a guilty verdict. In either case, I believe Franco does have a right to appeal…

    Not so wild about this idea. Now Franco certainly deserves the opportunity to defend himself and his innocence. And it might not be true. (Anyone remember former Sox infielder Julio Valdez had a similar accusation that I believe fell apart after further investigation?). But Franco, a married father of two, could be innocent and still be a dirtbag…

    Is Yoshida really the best Sox candidate to move to DH? I’m thinking Casas to DH and Devers to 1b might make more sense. Potentially upgrade the gloves at two infield positions. Devers certainly has 1b in his future and Casas isn’t doing much defensively to keep himself there…

    The Sox are very likely to move at least one OF this off-season. Verdugo is probably most likely, especially since they haven’t extended him given his overt desire. Duran is probably second most likely, and a big part of it is the very reasons you cite…

    I don’t think either Houck or Crawford will be in the pen next year. Especially not Houck. The criticisms against Houck are outdated. His struggles against the lineup third time through are mitigated by todays roster construction that allows for 8 man bullpens. And his lack of a third pitch isn’t the issue it used to be, as there are a few successful two pitch starters out there today, notably Chicago Cubs’ LHSP Justin Steele, who throws fastballs or slider roughly 95% of the time…
