    Playoffs

You still don’t even know what the pink hats issue is? You’ve been called out for this repeatedly. I curse Bill Gates and Microsoft for making computers so simple even hapless morons can post on the internet….
  2. Then why are people extolling Cora as the guy who knows what this team needs? There is an argument he never knew before…
  3. Can you say with 100% certainty Cora wasn’t on in those decisions? I can see, for example, Cora telling Bloom he needs to get Arroyo, who most definitely was a good hitter, into the lineup more often. As for Franchy, no idea why that went down the way it did. I mean, even when it was clear Cordero couldn’t field the position, Cora kept putting him out there. Did Bloom force him to? Did he tell him to play Franchy at first and deal with it? I do have my doubts there. Of course if Bloom was all about Franchy, he did seem oddly excited to acquire his replacement in Eric Hosmer? No one should ever get th hat excited about Eric Hosmer. We know Cora makes weird and ultimately stupid lineup decisions (see Kike at shortstop above), so why is he completely exonerated for these two?
  4. This definitely seems like one of those jobs where getting more people involved will lead to quicker resolution. And what better way to change than to take 3 people who were involved in the last 2 last place finishes and turn them into a committee? Clearly the Sox have been trying to fill a hole; even if they fill it internally, they need one name in charge…
  5. Who is that Anybody right now? World Series starts next week. Ten days later, the off-season begins. And right more Boston has no one in charge and seems to be have created a situation no one wants to work in…
  6. It’s pretty flawed. For example, are you 100% certain Cora want involved in 2022 and 2022? I mean for any other reason than you want to blame Bloom for everything? I think he will have a say, but I also think he always did. That doesn’t mean he always got what he asked for. And it also doesn’t mean what he asked for was always realistic…
  7. First of all, that’s an assumption. And a flawed one. Given that you just made a sweeping generalization, are you saying Bobby Valentine knew how to build a team better than Thro Epstein? And does Cora know how to acquire said players? But really, if Cora was so great at identifying weaknesses on his team, why did he keep playing Kike st SS? And don’t say he has no other options; he kept doing it long after he had a choice…
  8. So you’re saying having no Head of Baseball Ops is better than having Bloom in charge?
  9. Accounting for inflation, Pedro’s 6 year $75mil contract in 1998 might be near the top…
  10. Cherington and Bloom were both given payroll limitations along with their high payrolls. It’s one thing when you’re told you have to operate on a limited budget; it’s another when you’re told “not only that but the last guy spent it all before you got here.” Both of them were forced to make franchise-altering trades to help bring payroll into check. Remember when Cherington had to trade Marco Scutaro just to squeeze Cody Ross onto the roster? Go back and look at the salaries of those players…
  11. I never thought there was anything to the whole “too many days off” BS. I think no it was concocted by someone who couldn’t grasp the parity in MLB and had to look for another excuse. It’s like the pundit who made up the whole “team chemistry” thing, but never actually defined it…

  13. I’m ok with that. And during parent-teacher conferences, I would tell Bloom’s parents “he just keeps giving up in the middle of the year.”
  14. Does a Cherington get an F? In four seasons, he finished last place 3 times and won a World Series title. In fact, he won as many titles as DD. But also - 3 last place finishes in 4 years…
  15. Also you’re not even in the ballpark if you think Bauer will take less money than a qualifying offer would give him. He’s getting over $20mill, and a contract of 2yrs $55mill would be a steal if he’s on his game. His history and personality will prevent many teams from getting involved, but not all of them. I would have no issues with him at all in Boston And think he’sa perfect fit for that teams needs and crappy economic restrictions. But if I was a predicting man (and I am), I would put him on the Mets next season…
  16. Even without this incident, he’s always come across as an *******. And quite often has proudly admitted it…
  17. So does the case against him rests on the theory she was texting about black snails and auto correct changed it? Ok but at what point do you say “ We’ll we don’t know everything so maybe he’s still guilty” and at least acknowledge he was suspended for over a full season already, possibly while being innocent? Right now the case against him isn’t even on the level of “Where’s there smoke…”. And even it if is, sometimes Where’s there’s smoke, there’s fire. But sometimes it’s just some guy vaping…
  18. But this is being forced to work with the same manager. Did Dombrowski want to fire Farrell but was told not to? Was Bloom forced to re-hire Cora? Or were these both cases of letting the new CBO do his job the way he wanted?
  19. It’s not a question about Cora or his abilities. It’s the situation that - before even getting hired - the new guys hands are tied on certain matters…
  20. Ok what did he do wrong? You don’t want to turn this into “he’s guilty!! I know he’s guilty! All we need now is a crime to charge him with.”
  21. At some point he is innocent until proven guilty, right?

    Playoffs

I hated the game playoff. 162 games and then one anti-climactic game and suddenly it’s just over. I like the new format much better..
  23. No but next year, if the Sox are losing, who will be at fault? Will the CBO have the ability to fire Cora? OT does he just immediately get sacked while Cora has diplomatic immunity? Or does this all change at Henry’s whim, in which case this is a much worse situation than I thought, with Henry becoming a modern day George Steinbrenner (but without all the winning)…
  24. Not talking about Bloom. I’m saying this creates an issue when the new guy (whoever he is) isn’t allowed to bring in his own manager…
  25. The GM is always the fall guy when he is actually fully in charge. They’re giving the new guy the opportunity to blame Cora of things don’t work out…
