  1. So far it seems to be more the MLB Network guys like CJ Nitkowski and Brad Lidge. I haven’t seen actual scouts or execs say it anywhere. I don’t know a thing about the guy myself…
  2. Last 3 years Montgomery 10.2 fWAR / 9.2 bWAR Musgrove 8.8 fWAR / 5.0 bWAR Plus free agency vs contract extension…
  3. It would make the Sox rotation - much like their lineup - very left-handed…
  4. I’ll take the under on Imanaga there. One thing to keep in mind is Ohtani might not be the market setter. Aaron Nola (7yr/$172mill) is just as relevant. I can see Yamamoto and (maybe) Snell exceeding his deal. Montgomery? Certainly in the neighborhood. It’s tough to see Imanaga in that neighborhood given that he has no MLB track record and simply is not as young as Yamamoto. Plus apparently several talking heads see him as a reliever at some point. (No idea if scouts or MLB execs do, but unlike me some of these talking heads have actually seen him pitch.)
  5. What was Fangraphs thinking predicting Jordan Montgomery in free agency would only get a Joe Musgrove contract extension?
  6. Were either of them so eager to sign a month ago? Especially Montgomery, after his postseason made him one of the top prizes this off-season?
  7. I doubt the Sox try to carry both Slaten and Mata, unless one or both are just flat out dominant. There are options, one of which I expect (not counting placing one or both on IL). 1. DFA Mata and re-sign him if he clears waivers. (The Ol’ Slip ‘Em Thru Waivers trick) 2. Complete a trade for Slaten. Or a financial transaction. 3. Trade one or both elsewhere. (Least likely.) Not sure what other options they have but there are probably a couple…
  8. Soxprospects has Winckowski in Worcester…
  9. But is there a chewy center?
  10. The Sox also might trade a 40-man spot to add another player…
  11. I’m hoping for some Bailey Magic…
  12. The 26 man roster needs to be complete before Christmas!!
  13. No, Cooper Criswell is a punt. Montgomery is s 4 bWAR pitcher. Cabrera was a 1.8 bWAR pitcher last year with easy potential to double that. Drury is a 2-3 bWAR. That’s an improvement of 8-9 games right there…
  14. Keep Mayer. Rafaela (plus ?) for Cabrera. Sign Montgomery Get a 2b. (Trading for Brandon Drury gets a RHH bat with some pop.) Start the season. It’s a simple plan…
  15. He can withhold his supper…
  16. Done. I’ll take the field. Specifically Citi Field
  17. If Breslow keeps letting all the mediocre pitchers sign elsewhere, all that’s going to be left are the good ones!
  18. Sign Montgomery. Trade Rafaela for Edward Cabrera and let Bailey fix him…
  19. I think he had more than two good trades. My problem was he stopped trying to make any trades..
  20. Is the whole argument that he’s expanding his business interests with the same capital? Or not enough capital to handle the new collection of opportunities? If so, FSG is going to take a bath on all fronts. Or maybe his new interest in the PGA includes the proper budget to do what needs to be done properly…
  21. Hey the man turned two aging, rapidly declining relievers into a very serviceable Nick Pivetta. That’s not so bad..
  22. Maybe the Sox can sign someone like Giolito or Mahle or Zac Plesac and Bailey can morph him into Gausman 2.0…
  23. By which you mean Snell helps pay for Ohtani…
