  1. He is helped by the absolute death of shortstops of the free agent market. And he was a 4 fWAR player not long ago…
  2. That one did have a dedicated thread…
  3. Re-read post 58 and point out where it says guarding the lines is the same as the shift. Then re-read post 59 and maybe you will realize that you almost got the point once. But clearly since have abandoned solely for the purpose of discrediting others in order to look more credible. https://www.talksox.com/forum/threads/20314-MLB-to-ban-the-shift/page4?highlight=Rule+shift+guard
  4. I would think I’d be on anyone’s “Legion of Bloom” roster. But I thought I was clear that he lost me completely at the last trade deadline and I don’t miss him at all. I think Henry was too patient; I would have fired him on August 2nd…
  5. Actually they might be more likely. Why keep him now for his one final year?
  6. I don’t even think you get Rosario for $10mill…
  7. And yet there’s only like 6 of them left…
  8. THE Hopkinsville goblin? There was a swarm of them!! Also they were painted monkeys that don’t bleed and die when shot…

    Playoffs

Except in the NLCS, where the only road win so far was the Phillies in game 5…
  10. Flaherty? He hasn’t been good for a few seasons now. I think Hicks might exceed $5mill. Rosario is already making $7.8mill and stands as potentially the best SS option on the free agent market, pending the option decisions for Anderson (likely picked up) and Baez (no idea)…
  11. d and e could have fixed f and g. I hope signing Kluber was not a reason he was fired. Is the new standard “one bad contract, even a one year deal, and you’re out!” If so, we’re going to get a new CBO every year. Maybe more often…
  12. If the game goes 16 innings, each team will place their lineup along the baseline in front of their dugout, and the game will be decided by a “last man standing” spelling bee…

    Playoffs

I suppose. It does feel inconsistent on the surface. But I’m not adamant about this or anything…

    Playoffs

I think he just likes fire sales…

    Playoffs

It’s a case of not wanting him here in the first place and then not wanting him to go. Just feels contradictory. Its ok to change your mind about the guy, but it does feel inconsistent…
  16. 1 year $60mill!!
  17. It’s just Boston. Not like they have to pitch in Arizona where they have all that heat. Plus two trips to Colorado every year…

    Playoffs

It just makes me think of former Cubs’ GM Jim Hendry, whose attitude clearly was “give me 8 hitters and we’ll figure out their positions later.”..

    Playoffs

    Actually I think they are…
  20. If you were as smart as you think you are, you would know that those who suffer from weak intellect did not choose to do so. Whereas being an insufferable ******* such as yourself was straight up your choice…
  21. And then in the 13th, just give each team a run and move on to try the 14th, where the managers roll dice to see what bases are occupied…

Better pitching. Even at the deadline would have been ok…
  23. I don’t know of that was ever offered, but in would have at least hoped for a better pitcher than Maeda, who has only started 53 games in the past 4 years with a 106 ERA+. If we’re getting a hindsight package, maybe fewer oft-injured pitchers..,
  24. For a guy quick to insult the reading comprehension of other, he sure does struggle with the ol’ nouns and verbs…
  25. I preferred taking the initial package with Graterol, but really, there were only two teams showing any interest. Kluber was a flop, but a one year deal for a 3.0 fWAR pitcher the season previous isn’t a mistake in theory; it was a move that simply didn’t work out. At a minimum, this deal at least impacts nothing going forward. Hopefully the new guy can be more decisive and not simply sit idly by while a team in contention needs help…
