  1. None of the guys who have signed fit your criteria, yes. Who had upside? Nola? Maeda? ERod? Gray? Ok maybe ERod. Maybe…
  2. Easier to park a car in Boston…
  3. You don’t get young guys with Upside via free agency. Not normally, anyway. And if you look at the best starting pitchers the Sox have acquired over the last half century, they have had much more success in the trade market over free agency…
  4. My point was when you looked at that roster last March, you probably didn’t see a clear “ace” or a 100 win team…
  5. Neither do I. He’s just the only experienced 2b getting buzz…
  6. I doubt they value his draft status over his MLB play. If the A’s want to give up something good, Seth Brown, Paul Blackburn, Sean Newcomb are all more likely to move before Gelof…
  7. They haven’t been since 2018…
  8. More. He’s quadridextrous. He can throw with his feet except that he is contractually forbidden from ever taking off his New Balances…
  9. Can he outbid Cohen here? Is Henry really going to shell out in excess of $300mill for a player with 0 MLB experience while questions still arise that he wouldn’t shell out that much for Mookie? I will be shocked if the Sox sign Yamamoto…
  10. I could see having an insurance policy for Stanton/Judge. But Verdugo was reportedly run out of Boston for his lack of hustle, tardiness, effort and failure to get on the same page as Cora. And all that happened when he was starting everyday and batting leadoff. Think those attitude issues disappear once he finds himself on the bench?
  11. You think every left-handed hitter should be platooned. Who exactly are they going to platoon Verdugo with?
  12. I don’t think Cincinnati makes that deal. India is actually still fairly decent. He won’t get them a top prospect like Teel, but he will get them more than Paulino. Reportedly they want pitching for him. It will be mediocre pitching at best…
  13. They’re not trading Gelof just because the rest of the team sucks. That they have already bowed out on trading Blackburn should indicate not everyone is available…
  14. You’re making an argument for how he actually is a fit for the Boston infield…
  15. Because Henry?
  16. So it’s worth any risk on Judge, not likely to get healthier as he ages, for the modest offensive improvement Verdugo brings over Grisham?
  17. And if they start Judge in CF and he gets injured (which he will) or if the deal Verdugo between now and April, I can do the same. The only way you get to do it if if the Yankees make the stupid move of downgrading their defense for a slight improvement defensively. You’re gloat is easily countered with “I thought the Yankees were smarter than that.”
  18. And last year he had 0.4 bWAR. But we all knew he was going to be the ace of the AL East Champs one day…
  19. Apparently the consensus is the Yankees are going to rearrange to an inferior defense in order to get Verdugo’s 105 OPS+ into the lineup instead of Grisham’s 95 OPS+. And think it is a strangely obvious decision…
  20. Center field does involve covering more ground. It’s more physically demanding than the corner spots. The Yankees could have played Judge in CF in the past but rarely did, and it wasn’t because they loved the hitting potential of Aaron Hicks and Harrison Bader…
  21. If the Sox only add Giolito and Wacha or something like that, it’s still an improvement over last year’s 78 win team. And they still have they pieces from a very solid bullpen. The Orioles won the East last year; who was their ace?
  22. Even if said DH has a wipeout slider?
  23. Did you just yuck on Wacha??!?
  24. And that would be stupid. Why are they taking that kind of defensive hit and exposing Judge to more physical risk? To get Alex Verdugo into the lineup? When did Dugo morph into Tony Gwynn?
  25. Got me. Send a message to SD that they can and will move on? Verdugo was Plan B? Or maybe Grisham wasn’t in the Soto deal ye. But if they bench Grisham and Jusge injures himself playing CF, they should fire Boone for putting him out there, fire Cashman for making it possible, and fire both their replacements just because…
