  1. You clearly have me confused with Old Red. I’ve disagreed with other posters hundreds of times and they be fished with me hundreds more. I’ve corrected people. I’ve been corrected as well. The main problem I have is some of the ones who like to correct me feel they should be above being corrected. You clearly don’t have any sort of grip on where I come from…
  2. I don’t know of we will ever even know if we agree, since asking your opinion on a simple question the entire baseball world is discussing just launches you into a tirade about what a victim you are.
  3. True although none of that was known at the time. Bogaerts’ edge from 2019-2021 was 11.8 fWAR to 11.1 fWAR. I didn’t want any of those shortstops once Lindor extended, especially not Story, whom I referred to as an Overpaid Paul DeJeong. But he is a better player than I realized. He just needs to stay on the field…
  4. Are you f***ing kidding me? You said the Sox don’t spend way. Fine. Many have said that, including me on occasion. So all I asked was if you thought Ohtani was spending wisely, and you turn it into all kinds of “out of context” accusations and personal attacks. Seriously? It wasn’t out of context and the rest was uncalled for…
  5. Story was signed before Bogaerts left. I do believe he was signed to to replace Bogaerts, but not everyone thinks that is a step down at shortstop…
  6. A potential 1-2-3 in the rotation of Buehler-Miller-Pepiot raises a few questions as well…
  7. You would bet against a team whose second highest paid pitcher is Ryan Yarbrough!?!!
  8. At some point 29 other teams will as will. Actually it’s $35mil for a star pitcher (which is not new) and $30mill for a star DH (which is). And $5mill for the convenience of being able to put both of them on the IL at once!!
  9. You’re the one who brought up spending wisely. Now you’re saying it doesn’t matter?
  10. Maybe because they want to see a winning team and Ohtani plus eight Enmanuel Valdez clones plus a staff “aced” by Tanner Houck isn’t a formula for success…
  11. The spending wisely caveat is only attached to the Sox on this forum, for obvious reasons. So is $700mill for Ohtani money spent wisely?
  12. It will and the Sox need to ignore and move on to other pitchers. Yamamoto is a waste of time since the Sox are not outbidding the Mets or Yankees…
  13. And all of that makes it even easier to not get upset when Henry doesn’t spend 25% of his payroll on a DH. The thing is, the Red Sox still aren’t a low payroll team. They haven’t been under $200mill in several years. And eight teams last season spent less money on their 40 man roster than the Dodgers will spend on Ohtani for 2024. The Sox aren’t up there with the Dodgers, but we are not the Pirates, Rays or Guardians either…
  14. I hope no team ever has an off-season plan that includes going all in on one player only…
  15. Nobody wanted him in Boston, because he can’t pitch in 2024 and he doesn’t play the field anywhere. But no one celebrated him going elsewhere either. And the people who didn’t want him recognize that Henry has always had some limitations on his budget. The shocking thing to me is apparently there are still people who don’t realize this…
  16. Rather be a savvy wannabe GM than a make-believe doctor that specializes in PEDs and being judgmental…
  17. This much is now true - the chances of any team signing Yamamoto for his $225mill projection are roughly the same as your chances of knocking the sun out of the sky by throwing rocks at it…
  18. He’ll probably lose money…
  19. Somewhere out there, Juan Soto’s agent just said “Yeah, let’s table that extension talk.”
  20. Ohtani’s AAV of $70mill (which it won’t be because some money will undoubtedly be deferred) is higher than the payrolls of EIGHT MAJOR LEAGUE TEAMSin 2023 (source: Sportrac). Three of those teams did something last year Ohtani has never done - played in the postseason…
  21. And fun thing about the Rangers’ pitching. Despite all the big names, rising stars and reclamation projects they added, without looking it up, can anyone tell me who lead that team in IP?
  22. Well we don’t really know how Breslow feels about that. Let’s get through the off-season first. If the Sox are still in it at the deadline, hopefully Breslow won’t Bloom out on us…
  23. They might have to trade Mookie to afford him. Hope we held on to Verdugo and the receipt…
  24. MLB is adopting asking “does he have big arms?” as their new steroid test…
  25. Prophetic…
