  1. For years, you’ve done nothing but call him Chris Frail and highlight his frequent injuries. Now that he’s been traded, you’re all about “there’s a hole in the rotation no one can fill” and predicting healthy successes that you never predicted for him when he was in Boston and younger. And had the Sox not traded him, we’d still be hearing about Chris Frail…
  2. Bernardino…
  3. Prefer 2 or 3 more pitchers capable of elite performance for 40-50IP? Then you’re in luck. Soxprospects has already added Paxton to their 2024 projected roster! Maybe they know something!
  4. The Sox have upgraded their rotation with regards to the most important ability - availability…
  5. Not true. In the last week, the Sox have added 180 IP from Giolito and subtracted 50IP from Sale. That’s a net gain…
  6. I suppose the Sox could have outbid the Mets for notin favorite Joey Wendle. And I’m sure everyone would have been on board with Wendle over Vaughn…
  7. Kike can’t be had for $17mill over 3 years…
  8. Cora didn’t do that last year…
  9. And those same people all cited you could not count on him. Except cp, who did count on him, so him I get objecting to you’d deal…
  10. Actually your way is fantasy. The Sox got 3 years of pre-arbitration Vaughn Grissom by letting Atlanta pay $10mill AAV on Sale. Who were the Sox going to get at 2b who is better than Grissom and willing to sign for $17mill over 3 years? Isaiah Kiner-Falefa - who was on no one’s radar but mine - just signed for $15mill over two years…
  11. That was two years ago and before his bike accident. And in that deal, the Sox got nothing but salary relief, which was reportedly why Bloom didn’t do it…
  12. Having Sale in your five doesn’t push anyone out…
  13. So is thinking unloading Sale and his full salary would have lead to signing a better player…
  14. There was only one team that had a shot of being the sole payer of Sale’s contract, and that was the Sox…
  15. Not really. Anyone who did did do with the caveat that you needed someone to cover for him. You didn’t give him the nickname “Chris Frail” because he’s a delicate flower. From ages 31 to 34, Sale totaled 151 IP. Why are you do confident he’s going to top that total at age 35? And NOBODY referred to him as their opening day starter. No one even assumed he’d survive the gauntlet of Spring Training…
  16. 1. There’s no guarantee the Sox would spend any of that $17mill on anyone. 2. Given the past 4 years, it’s not likely Sale will pitch much anywhere. And if he doesn’t pitch, we now got Atlanta to cover $10mill of his salary and give up a very good prospect for the right to do so…
  17. For years, you’ve called him Chris Frail. Not one person out here projected him as a member of the Sox rotation. When he was brought up, the comment was always “you can’t count on Sale.” He’s throw 151 IP TOTAL in the past FOUR YEARS! Exactly how much trade value do you think he had on his own? If the Sox didn’t pay done his debt, all they would have gotten is salary relief. And that wouldn’t be worth anything given how little they spend on players…
  18. That’s fine. I only put O’Neil in LF because Roster Resource and Soxprospects both did. Teoscar has played RF, but if the Sox sign him (ugh) he might very well play RF. Cora didn’t strike me as someone who will rearrange players for defense…
  19. I don’t mind at all, because it’s not like if they kept the $17mill, they would be spending it on someone else.
  20. I do think it helps. Sale has shown himself to still be good, but I’m the past 4 seasons, he has shown it far too infrequently. He’s thrown 30 fewer IP since 2019 than Giolito threw last year. And while I kept hoping year after year that his annual non-pitching arm/shoulder injuries would not derail the season, something always seemed to derail him. If it was only one missed year, different story to me any way. But Sale hasn’t been Sale for far too long..
  21. I think Grissom can be a big step up over the (-0.9) fWAR the Sox got from 2b last year…
  22. Unless 1) teams are asking about Yorke in trades, or 2) Grissom might be traded still Don’t let your bias against Yorke make every call for you…
  23. I think with Sale, any deal before he has a chance to break is timed perfectly…
  24. So… trade everyone for a bunch of new players?
