Yoshida came to Boston for his age 29 season and posted an OPS+ of 109. Hideki Matsui came to NY for his age 29 season and posted an OPS+ of 109. For the next 7 seasons, Matsui would post an OPS+ of 126. Did anyone see that coming after Godzilla’s first uninspiring year?

We only need to catch Toronto and New York. We did win 78 games last year. 10 more than WSC Texas won in 2022. My issue isn’t the team’s inability to get a frontline pitcher. Or an ace. Or whatever. The improvements need not be so specific. But wondering does need to happen…

Sox ownership might not be alone in our division Who is running away with the AL East? Baltimore - added Kimbrel. Lost a couple of mediocre starting pitchers Tampa - Added Pepiot but lost Glasgow New York - Added Soto but no pitching Toronto - Added Kiner-Falefa but lost Chapman/Belt Boston - Added Giolito and Grissom but lost Sale Obviously we had more ground to make up, but the rest of the division is not exactly running ahead and leaving the Sox behind.

Interestingly enough, Soxprospects thinks the Sox will still acquire a RF, and then neither Abreu nor Rafaela break camp with the big club. I think this bench is up in the air. But Dalbec doesn’t have much going for him if he is relying on the “only backup 1b” option,,,
