  1. If no one else will, I’ll do it. Regardless of whether or not Duran turns it around completely and regardless of the fact that I’ve been harder on Duran, which I plan on denying layer…
  2. Thats part of the big picture. If Anthony does pan out and goes to free agency at age 27, he is going to get a deal worth more than his current deal plus Campbell’s deal and still have enough leftover for a down payment on a mansion and a good-sized boat. If overpaying the occasional prospect that doesn’t pan out prevents the next Betts from getting away for very little, why wouldn’t anyone do it?
  3. It’s more important to get Whitlock and Slaten back than to worry about Weissert. No one wanted Joe Kelly on the 2018 postseason roster but he just got flat out hot in October that year. Weissert is far more likely to be the 2026 Kelly than Burgos is.
  4. I honestly believe Casas could injure himself by getting locked out…
  5. Weissert’s ERA is nice but his HR/9 is pretty ugly…
  6. Only 2 innings in that case. That way he needn’t risk counting on that injured finger…
  7. Does anyone ever think of Kurt Warner or Warren Moon as undrafted players anymore? As opposed to their “stigma” of being Hall of Famers?
  8. Exactly. Story is the starter and Arias is the lifeboat.
  9. Yes. That’s why they’re stupid. Im ok with an opener in front of Bello throwing 5-6 IP. In fact, thats a really smart strategy. But beyond that, no pen games, please…
  10. Is 20yo Franklin Arias necessarily an improvement over uninjured Story? Sometimes these kids do struggle, regardless of Prospect Pedigree. Just look at Kristian Campbell. Now if an allegedly healthier Story struggles (possible) or gets hurt again (pretty f***ing likely), maybe they revisit Arias. But the Sox can only play one shortstop at a time…
  11. They’re easing him back in. He plays tomorrow, but only in even numbered innings…
  12. Weissert has an option so the Sox clearly think he’s the better pitcher. But I think the Sox Wil shuttle Weissert, Burgos, and Olds back and forth to make up for their lack of starter depth. But not Samaniego for reasons no one can explain. Regardless, if the worst pitcher in your pen is Weissert, you have a really good bullpen…
  13. Gasper and Seigler have options. Jones and White di not. Demoting Gasper and Seigler allows them to keep everyone. Sogard has options, too…
  14. Once Story and Anthony return, my pre-expansion ROS lineup (until altered by injuries) would be: C: Rutschman 1b: Contreras 2b: Monasterio 3b: Durbin SS: Story LF: Duran/Jones CF: Rafaela RF: Abreu DH: Anthony BN: Wong, White, Sogard Will Breslow follow my lead? Wouldn’t be the first time…
  15. Can’t tell with him because everything breaks so easily…
  16. If Monasterio plays full time and Story can go 6 weeks with breaking, Sogard does make more sense on the bench. Now if they need a DH, even for a platoon, that changes things…
  17. I think I’d have been shocked if they called up Arias with Story coming off the IL this week. Story is having a rough year but that could have been due to his hernia and he’s probably more likely to add immediate impact, at least at the plate, regardless of pending lockout…
  18. A Monasterio-Seigler would bench Monasterio too often. He’s been their best middle infielder at the plate for a good stretch now. I don’t like him at SS, but I hope his bat stays in the lineup a little longer…
  19. Is MVP05 your great great great great great great great great great great great great great great grandfather? I might be a few greats short but I don’t want to trace your ancestry all the way back to pre-evolution monkeys and to a time where your family tree was where they lived…
  20. Possible. I think Jones has carved out a role for himself swinging vs LHP. That could be a LF platoon with Anthony at DH full time as well…
  21. Keeoing Monasterio in the lineup full time doesn’t seem like a big deal to me just yet. And I doubt they view him as the weak side of a platoon. Sogard makes more sense with his better versatility, better speed, better glove and superior bunting skills.
  22. They could put Anthony in LF, but that frees up DH for who? Gasper? Seigler? Both are capable of good games but is either a solution for the rest of the year or potential games in the postseason?
  23. Every time Gasper homers, Seigler dies a little bit inside…
