  1. The starting points were not equal. Fedde was a thrice ranked BA Top 100 prospect. Kelly was just some guy from ASU…
  2. Sox really do need an actual 2b. I’m hoping Grissom can rebound. Hamilton has some pros but also some cons. Valdez is a one dimensional player who should never have even purchased a glove. Westbrook lived his childhood dream. But he wasn’t the answer to anything…
  3. No. Kluber was disastrous. Not like we ever forgot and forgave Eric Gagne…
  4. If I ever get control of Edman and prospects I’ll call you and we can deal…
  5. If Fedde re-invented himself in KBO, he wouldn’t be the first. No one heard of Merrill Kelly before he came back from Korea…
  6. So re-sign Dom Smith at 3yrs /$60mill?
  7. I will admit, I was happier with the “1” than the “10”. Any contract can go sour, but the ones that go sour and disappear immediately are much less detrimental…
  8. What? Dumpster Diving works on occasion?!? Just because about 20% of the Sox current MLB roster is successful dives doesn’t mean they need to do it!!
  9. I like the trade. Sox have plenty of depth behind/in front of Yorke. But the Yorke Hate, such as calling him the worst first round pick in team history, has gotten out of hand. Bloom liked Yorke and probably took him at his only chance to get him. The guy made it to AAA, which is not a given among Sox first rounders. And Pitt liked him enough to give up a 23yo pitcher with MLB experience. Also if Yorke hit .750, he’d be the Sox best option at 2b this year. Heck he’d be their best if he hit .700…
  10. Let the record show for the first time, the Stork is actually right. And Randy’s weird preoccupation with Yorke is bordering on requiring medical attention…
  11. And how should the Sox have filled those two empty bullpen slots? They didn’t have much internally. Trades are simply not always an option right away, and trading is really always the last resort. That leaves the waiver wire. Or scouring the Dark Web. Or your preferred option of just being short-handed. (I did look up and see technically Wingenter was acquired in a trade with Detroit, but only added to the 49 man later.)
  12. At some point, just because you added someone doesn’t make it an improvement. Just ask Eric Gagne…
  13. No one has to catch the ball. It’s still interference…
  14. Unfortunately the right one…
  15. Still a clueless play by O’Neill. Infield fly is called. Just go to first base ASAP…
  16. 98 pitches. 2 walks…
  17. He was drafted # 18 overall, but none of the scouting orgs have ever ranked him as a top 100 prospect…
  18. I’m sure they’ll make sure they can control Priester as long as possible. It might be more of an issue if Priester could force a tough decision by pitching better…
  19. They had an open roster spot. They could trade, but might not have found anyone willing. And if it’s only temporary, trades can take too long. Contract reviews. Physicals. Etc. plus teams use lots of pitchers. Most teams use 20-30 different pitchers per year. And a lot of them don’t start the year in the same organization. Would you prefer instead that the Sox bought them in bulk from Costco? Ramirez and Wingenter combined for just over 3 IP. Why are they worth this much attention from you? They were placeholders and quick fixes whose chances at sticking were directly linked to how long it took Breslow to trade for their replacements…
  20. So 30yo Brett Phillips is attempting to come back as a pitcher, and the Yankees have already signed him. But the Sox are dumpster diving by getting actual pitchers. Interesting move by Phillips. He always had a cannon for an arm. I’m surprised because these types of switches are usually done by guys who can’t get Major League jobs. Phillips was never a starter, but he didn’t seem to struggle finding teams to put him on the ML roster…
  21. I don’t know, since I don’t check the waiver wire personally. Mike Baumann might have been. He seems to go on it every couple weeks. Of course it’s not just about who else was on the waiver wire; it also matters that those players last on it until the Sox can make a claim…
  22. The difference is our SPs have a history of effectiveness at the ML level. Priester does not. If he pitches in Boston this year, it likely won’t be until September, or close to it…
  23. Hey that trade was DEVASTATING to my daughter. I thought she was going to quit watching baseball forever. I was half ass watching the game, and she came up to me upset and said “I think Morel just got traded.” No mention yet on MLBTR, but Michael Busch came up to hit for him, and they cut to the dugout and Chris was hugging everyone. The best I could say was “I hope he’s just hurt.”
  24. Not after trading Morel!!
