  1. 5 IP this year. None since May 14th. Is he even healthy?
  2. Dane Dunning
  3. It’s an amazing story stilll. Sale made his first All Star game in 6 years. I’m not sure if anyone has ever had a gap that large between All Star appearances. Sale is on track to win his first Cy Young. After 4 years of all but not playing! And at age 35! NL Comeback Player of the Year is already clinched. And clearly not enough. He should get Comeback Player of the Century…
  4. Your technical issues are from the site. I’m having them too. I also wonder if the bike accident wasn’t a bigger deal. Many athletes have activities like that prohibited for that very reason - injury. Like Aaron Boone’s infamous basketball injury that lead to the ARod trade. If Sale was violating his contract with extracurricular activities, it’s another possible contributor to wanting to move him …
  5. Getting hit by a comebacker is a definitely fluke injury. Ditto the bike accident, although I’m surprised riding a bike wasn’t contractually prohibited. (Was it?) I am hesitant to label breaking a rib while throwing a pitch as part of that same category, however…
  6. Texas has had one season above .500 since 2017. And THIS is the season you can’t believe? (Hint: Maybe 2023 was the fluke.)
  7. Was it the Pfister Hotel? Very haunted! Of course, so are most of the Airbnb’s in that neighborhood…
  8. Hindsight makes lots of decisions easier. Also makes lotteries more winnable…
  9. But wasn’t Sale a big part of the reason the Sox were needy in that area? From 2020 through 2023, he was the highest paid pitcher on the Sox each year, making iver $100mill in that timeframe, and in that 4 year stretch, he pitched 151 IP with a record of 11-7, 3.93. Was he part of the problem or part of the solution?
  10. Vaughn Grissom
  11. But always derogatory. And Duran is a professional ball player who used it on a paying customer. Not common in that instance, either. It didn’t mean he’s a bad person; just a guy whose emotions got the best of him. A two game punishment is fine…
  12. What if Texas kicks in half? Not unprecedented…
  13. Fatigue leading to reduced velocity? https://www.fangraphs.com/players/kutter-crawford/20531/graphs?position=P&statArr=6&legend=1%2C2&split=base&time=daily&ymin=&ymax=&start=2022&end=2024&rtype=mult&gt1=15&dStatArray=FA
  14. I’m sure Texas would kick in a rather significant portion…
  15. They made one and never got to use him. The problem was not replacing Giolito. Montgomery was available and I think Snell might have been as well…
  16. There’s been a migration towards acceptance of casual profanity for a while now. I remember when you couldn’t say “damn” on network TV, and now I go to a priest who says “no you f***ing didn’t!” to me during confession…
  17. Was there a time when what Duran did was considered polite?
  18. So do you think the Sox should trade for Jake deGrom this off-season? He’s only got 3 years / $115 mill left on that deal…
  19. There’s a difference between general profanity and the use of epithets targeted at a particular group…
  20. I hoped on this guy for 4 years to come back and lead the Sox like he’s doing here. Maybe even 5 years, since he was nowhere near this effective back in 2019. I get why the Sox tried to move him. But this deal and everything around couldn’t have gone more wrong…
  21. He only went 7 innings twice since 2019. His comeback is unprecedented….
  22. Or keep actively pursuing pitchers as teams clear out 40 man roster space. It’s possible another team might dump a few contracts to get under the tax threshold like the Angels did last year. Toronto and the Cubs are candidates. Kyle Hendricks anyone?
  23. Flashes, yes. But even the Braves wouldn’t give up anything for him unless the Sox paid the bulk of the fare. And Sale did injure his shoulder shortly after that game. Again, with Sale it was never a question of ability. But there were questions of durability and availability…
  24. And if Sale had been able to throw even one outing like that since 2019, he’d probably still be here…
  25. Ever heard him doing it before? Or pretending you know Duran? I think the missed story here is this happened so soon after Billy Bean died…
