    Most deals happen July 31. There have only been a handful of deals so far, and really only one potential Sox target. Two if you think Nick Fortes should have been on their radar. The problem the Sox (and most teams) have is the selling teams are in absolutely no rush to make deals and start losing more often even sooner. They can afford to wait out best offers. There is some risk if a player gets hurt or gets involved in gambling, however…

    If Mayer is out long term, it does make more sense to keep Duran in CF and Rafaela at 2b than to trade Duran and put David Hamilton on the field more often. But I suppose it all depends what Duran would get traded for…

    The interesting fix might be 1b. Who are the candidates? Yandy Diaz is the clear best option IMO. I don’t buy into the whole “won’t trade within the division” angle. With balanced schedules and 3 wild cards, division races have become somewhat muted. Josh Naylor is a Mariner. Rhys Hoskins is injured. Ryan O’Hearn stopped hitting two months ago. Ty France stopped hitting two years ago. Josh Bell? At some point, it’s not an improvement over Toro/Romy. Carlos Santana? I suppose he’s still a target. Not sure he is an upgrade either. Who else is in play?

    The Rangers hot run has come at the expense of the A’s, Braves and Tigers. While the Tigers are normally tough, theyre in a massive funk right now going 1-12 over their past 13 games. (That one win - against Texas.) So why is it the Rangers can beat up on teams and be rolling, but when Boston does, its only because those other teams are struggling?

    But you will have to include Jhoan Duran in this deal. That way the Sox can just recycle Jarren’s jerseys. But on the bright side, the Twins can do the same thing! Jarren Duran for Jhoan Duran and Simeon Woodrich. I’d call it a win-win!!

    He has already removed the hyphen from his name. Maybe he’s amenable to taking out a few letters as well. Would it work for Henry if he went by Simeon Woodrich?
