  1. On to - and call this a prediction - Bregman, Crochet and Manaea…
  2. Not exceptional power? The list of players with 200 home runs before their age 26 season: 1. Alex Rodriguez 2. Jimmie Fox 3 Eddie Matthew’s 4. Mel Ott 5. Mickey Mantle 6. Frank Robinson 7. Mike Trout 8. Albert Pujols 9. Juan Soto Thats it. In all of MLB history. Just those 9. I’d consider that to be exceptional power…
  3. I just don’t see any team taking on four players : (Casas, Abreu, Wikelman, and Kelly) that require 40 man roster spots. And hopefully Boston doesn’t deplete too much of their pitching depth that still has options. The Sox can free up spots through the DFA process, starting with Gaspar…
  4. Plus Sandlin wouldn’t require a 40 man roster spot…
  5. Sure, if that prospect was Kristian Campbell. On BTV, a deal of Casas and Yoelin Casper’s is fair, but I’m not entirely sure Pitt is interested in that deal. On that site, Casas’ value is roughly equal to that of Johan Oviedo. I don’t think Boston should be interested in that deal…
  6. The big four last year were Snell, Montgomery, Chapman and Bellinger. Speier (and everyone else) linked Boston to Montgomery. He probably linked us to Snell, which is believable and probably happened. But Chapman and Bellinger? I don’t recall him or anyone else establishing that connection, and I very much wanted the Sox in on Chapman…
  7. Teoscar is not a Boras client. Bellinger is not a free agent. The Cubs do want to move him, but all Boras can do is enforce existing relevant clauses in Cody’s contract. I don’t think this is Scott’s year after Soto. He’s not trying to get this over to focus on his others. Soto is his Mona Lisa…
  8. When did he link the Sox to Matt Chapman or Cody Bellinger? And everyone linked the Sox to Jordan Montgomery. Multiple times. I trust Speier infinitely more than the Internet Rumor Mills like Savage Sports or Hector Gomez (or whatever) whose sole goal is to increase hits by “reporting” what people want to hear…
  9. Casas has some trade value, but I am not so sure he represents the key chip in a trade for a frontline starting pitcher. He won’t get you Crochet, for example. Probably someone more along the lines of Casey Mize. (Probably not available. See SF below.) With their new, expensive SS, pre-arb Casas would be a big plus in SF. But a team spending on moving forward into the postseason isn’t giving up SP. And Bregman has had a really good career, but he also turns 31 right around opening day. He’s entering the Waning Years, and he’s not likely to take a deal of 3 years or less. How much should the Sox pay him as he slowly devolves into Overpriced Obsolescence?
  10. As much as I liked the idea, I find it hard to believe Adames was ever a serious option. If the Sox actually sign a 3b, Bregman always felt more likely…
  11. Boras has been an agent a long time and knows how to juggle multiple clients. It’s not like he works alone. Im not sure who his clients are this year beyond Soto, Burnes and Bregman…
  12. And what’s in that for Boras? Not to mention, where his clients (of which your primary target Fried is not one) is not Boras’ decision…
  13. It’s all about the money and only the money. I’ve even joked about the costs and expenses of living in NY. But we are talking about over half a BILLION dollars here. Soto could realistically just give his car away instead of parking it, and then buy a new one. Every day. He’s not going to pick Boston because he figures to save on groceries…
  14. They’re not adding two starting pitchers, barring two scenarios: 1. A trade involving one of the current SPs, most likely Crawford 2. You’re counting Giolito as one of the two. Beyond that, there’s no reason to believe Houck, Bello, Crawford and Giolito won’t all be in the rotation come April, assuming all are healthy…
  15. I think he’s saying it’s like the Temple of Doom of rings. Sure it’s part of a legitimate franchise and all. But no one liked it except Short Round’s parents…
  16. Are you saying winning the World Series with Ryan Weber s as toy number three starter doesn’t belong in fantasyland?
  17. Savage Sports is a nobody in a circle where even the biggest names (like Bar Stool Sports) have all but non-existent access to inside information. Ignore them and their completely unsupported “data”…
  18. Yes, but how many of those young stars can you hold on to for more than 3 years? I want Soto, too, but the bidding has reached the point where I’m ok with someone else signing him. Even the Yankees. They’ve shown already he doesn’t guarantee a World Series, and I have full faith that the one person who can keep a team with Soto aand Judge in check is Aaron Boone…
  19. I think more like the North Eastros. Spend, but have a supplement pipeline…
  20. In what will be a proper yet seemingly bizarre use of the word “only”, an offer of $1 billion Canadian works out to “only” $710,000,000 USD
  21. At some point, having Soto will make no sense if the Sox can’t surround him with talent. Fourteen years and nearly three-quarters of a billion dollars is a lot for one player. Rebuild the staff, and hope Anthony is the next MLB superstar…
  22. Casas is still pre-arb and I prefer him over Alonso. Neither is good defensively but Casas won’t ruin the budget. Plus, and this may matter very little to anyone, but Pete Alonso strikes me as the angriest man in MLB. I’ve seen him fly off the handle for weird s*** - like at a pitcher because his tape measure shot was called foul. Or that’s what it looked like. Anyway, no to Angry Pete. Christian Walker is nice, but he’s already 34. Go shorr. Actually if the Sox do move Casas, I’d hope they backfill with a good all-around third baseman who wasn’t involved in a cheating scandal…
  23. I would too if I was running the Cardinals or (especially) the Mariners. But the Red Sox? Hopefully Breslow gets canned if he accepts. A top ten prospect, another top 100 prospect, two other prospects and most of Yoshida’s contract for a decent but pricey SP, one year of a closer, and a salary dump catcher that needs to rebound? I popped it into BTV. The Sox lose $53.5mill in surplus value. Basically in this deal, you’re giving away Marcelo Mayer for nothing…
  24. If the Red Sox won in 2020, in no way would that be legit. The only way to win when Ryan Webber is your #3 starter is if the fix is if the whole season is fixed…
  25. The important thing is that you try…
