    The Sox didn't need a Ferrari. Teams that need Ferraris are not deadline buyers. (And really, no human being ever has NEEDED a Ferrari. It’s one of those luxury items thats only deemed a necessity by the remarkably spoiled.) I’m not wild about May, but the Sox pitching isn’t exactly struggling right now. Maybe you haven’t noticed how the team is doing?

    Really they should have dealt Password. BA Top 100 prospect who, if the Sox don’t trade an outfielder, finds himself peaking at fifth outfielder on the depth charts until 2029, when he can jump to 4th outfielder, assuming no one catches him from behind.. He could have been dealt for a rental better than May. Cease? Maybe?

    My big concern with May is they got him from a contender, and a team that clearly knows him, for a 23yo struggling in A ball. If May was such an asset, why did the Dodgers unload him for a package that will clearly not help this year and might never be worth anything?

I don’t think this is a reasonable answer , but rather a last ditch grasp at dangling straws to justify your position. Breslow, like most people, probably prefers to stay employed rather than quitting due to apparent control issues that would prevent him from getting hired anywhere else…

    This is such a copout answer. Whether or not other teams were able to acquire a “#2” starter is a question about the feasibility of the task. It’s a barometer about the market. As it was a seller’s market in which closers went for multiple BA Top 100 prospects, it really is worth noting that no top tier starters were traded. If your answer is the Sox should have done whatever it takes, then we can only assume you would have included Anthony in this deal…
