  1. Maybe, but it’s also fairly safe to assume he isn’t using his own money…
  2. Cohen’s probably not losing anything on this. He didn’t accrue some $15-20billion in net worth by accepting financial losses personally…
  3. I see others are pursuing my questions…
  4. Don’t these teams have other operating costs not related to the aggregate total of the salaries of 40 employees?
  5. 1. Hopefully not Suarez. At that point, pay up for Alonso and a pitcher (R Suarez? Cease? King?) and trade an OF for a 3b or 2b, which is probably easier than dealing one for a pitcher. I doubt we have a clue on the real budget, however. 2. Hopefully they don’t trade Campbell. They had enough faith to extend him, but he’s no longer needed after a stretch of 110 bad PA?
  6. I was thinking Sogard, but it’s the same idea. They might add some Kevin Newman type, especially if he was willing to take a MiLB deal. Or maybe someone like Jacob Amaya, who likely won’t get anything better…
  7. I think the return of Romy is unquestioned…
  8. For an in-game replacement, Romy is fine at SS. But if you need someone to start 4 or 5 games, he’s not ideal.
  9. Unless someone is included in a trade, the Sox will be returning Crochet, Bello, Sandoval, Crawford, Early, Tolle, Dobbins, Harrison, Perales, and Fitts, plus any SP added to the 40 man roster to prevent Rule 5 draft selection. Thats 10 SP right there. I doubt adding 2 SPs is on the radar…
  10. While it is certainly Bogaerts’ call, the man advising him during contract negotiations was Scott Boras, who is known for giving advice to wait until all offers are on the table….
  11. At that point, all Boston is doing is opening a 40 man roster spot. Casas’ projected arb salary isn’t so prohibitive that the Sox cannot gamble holding on to him and using him in a 1b/DH role when he is finally healthy…
  12. Casas was really good back in 2023 before the injuries kicking in…
  13. Duran doesn’t have a Gold Glove. Did you mean Rafaela?
  14. I prefer to oppose John Heyman, not ally with him…
  15. I think you were limited to the sentence at hand and not free to add your own. Otherwise lots of them work. For example: “Bryce Harper is a carbon-based bipedal life form capable of exchanging oxygen for carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.” Yes, that statement also applies to Devers. Although my understanding is Devers wanted Breslow to find someone else to exchange the gases…
  16. I will call one “long and large” which will probably be Bregman for 5 years. And they make trades that probably include pricey players (not named Greene and Harper)…
  17. Even his 2018 was unspectacular…
  18. There have been signs. Bregman getting a $40mill AAV for up to 3 years should headline the list. Extending Crochet would be the second. I doubt they go as crazy as they used to, however…
  19. Defensively Kike’s play was much bigger. Betts’ was fairly routine, especially with Alejandro Kirk “running”. Betts has never really excelled in postseasons for whatever reason. He gets you there and then someone else plays hero…
  20. Someone would trade for Casas? The other two have been thrown around since July. And I think Bello is a trade candidate. Just watch. Also - no Hunter Greene, but Brady Singer did make the list…
  21. No more than a salaried employee? He was the CBO, not the same as Frieda in accounting. Is ownership really involved at this level? I’ve seen thousands of posts over the years about this executive or that one “needing ownership approval first.” What is all that based on? Can someone point me to the memorandum that sets the approval levels?
  22. Have the Reds already put Hunter Greene on the trade block? (Hint: No.) Has some guy who covers the Reds written a clickbait article about the benefits of trading Greene? Yes. Will the Reds trade Greene? Most likely not.
  23. And who is “they”? Do you think Dombrowski was not part of that process?
  24. The problem was he opened it for others first…
