  1. And it’s been a source of contention between myself and that site for some time now…
  2. So he can win when given a team most managers could win with? Not exactly the loftiest praise. Casas injury aside, could no manager win with this team?
  3. When they’re ready to compete? When exactly is that? Despite the opinions here on the board, I can promise you the Sox haven’t run up the white flag. They’re looking bad now, but they’re also still winning almost 50% of the time in a game where winning 60% of the time is elite…
  4. Anthony just puts a new name in the OF. With Rafaela hitting, Jarren Duran is the weak link, but he’s also their best leadoff option. And it’s not like Anthony is a lock to top his .674 OPS this year. Mayer could more easily outproduce Story. So that makes more sense. But it does nothing about the bullpen issues and nothing to replace Houck in the rotation…
  5. I could understand Devers’ point more on this if it was just being done to replace a struggling Casas or something like that, or especially if they just sprung it on him for no reason at all. But a starting player got injured. This was hardly foreseeable. Obviously changes have to be made…
  6. Rafaela like the weak replaceable link and his contract looks better every day lately. Theres no need to rush to Anthony. We’ve reached the point where we don’t even know he’s an upgrade…
  7. Certainly most data from pitchers supports this. Baseball-Reference has this as a split for every pitcher…
  8. Raffy to 1b is only one possible solution. There are others, none of contain the words “Abraham” or “Toro,” unless those words are immediately preceded by the letters DFA…
  9. Or, as you are implying, Cora sees Devers as a difficult person to move in this situation…
  10. You’d think the Ghost Runner might bring it back somewhat. Although the 2021 date is easily explainable, as the NL officially adopted the DH in 2022. Not like pitchers are good for anything else at the plate…
  11. Exactly the point. Not to mention, errors are just some guy’s opinion and a lot of them can go either way or should really be attributed to another player…
  12. Are you saying the guy with the .900 fielding percentage is better than the guy with the 1.000? Plus, if you watched closely, a couple of those error calls could have gone either way…
  13. Agreed. My standard hypothetical to demonstrate. You hit 100 identical groundballs to two shortstops. One gets to 80 but makes all his plays. The other gets to all 100 but makes 10 errors. Who’s the better fielder?
  14. Misleading interpretation , and you know that as we’ve covered this before. You have to count the holds, too, since there is no such thing as a Blown Hold. The true number is 11 out of 34 opportunities. https://www.fangraphs.com/leaders/major-league?pos=all&stats=pit&lg=all&qual=y&type=0&season=2025&month=0&season1=2025&ind=0&team=0%2Cts&sortcol=12&sortdir=default&pagenum=1 The Sox had two blown saves last night. One from Whitlock in the 6th, which was never going to be a save. And one from Weissert in the 10th…
  15. Well, bringing in the ones on the roster didn’t work so well…
  16. They might help themselves by not taking any young pitcher with velocity and potential that also has a history of arm trouble or never started before and trying to force them into the rotation…
  17. At least he’s stepping up while others have stepped back.
  18. And given the levels of superstition and OCD that are rife among MLB clubhouses, this decision would be immensely unpopular with the players…
  19. It seems odd to do so today, but I’m defending Weissert. He’s appeared in 19 games this year and only given up runs in 3 of them. And he caught flak for his Blown Save last night, but that was a product of the Ghost Runner rule. The reality is all he did was give up a 2-out single. Under normal (re:sensible) circumstances, it would have gone unnoticed…
  20. No. He’s in Worcester. Sent back down on May 3rd to activate Bernardino from the bereavement list…
  21. And yet both are doing their jobs. And I say this as one who has been critical of the Wilson signing since seconds after it happened…
  22. Long history of arm trouble has kept him down. He is earning a cup of coffee right now. But he’ll probably give himself third degree burns with it…
  23. You can always go see Panthers at Amerant Bank Arena…
