I can see that point, but I think the issue could also be the manner with which he handled the situation. The counterargument is that he was paid to pitch by the White Sox, and while I would agree that promotional throwback jerseys are pointless, if they want him to wear one, that is part of the job for which they were paying him. Ad Red Sox fans, we may have benefited from his tantrum, so in that respect it worked out...

a700 doesn't "just voice" anything. He constantly misread posts and derides people for his misinterpretations. And then he passes his judgment, tosses in an insult andbthen gets angry at them. And the only thing that makes him angrier is if you do the same thing to him. He does stop thst immature behavior only long enough to alternate posts calling Sandoval a "fat slob" with posts explaining why "fat slob" is a term of endearment. And absolutely, yes, he does start the name calling and childish behavior.

Since I've never wrung my hands over this trade I stand by my accusation that you can't read. But it's nice that you have me on top of this list, which I can only assume makes you number two. Although I think you're number two regardless of where I fall. So what exactly so you bring to tjis board, besides deriding people for opinions you assign them and fat jokes and profanity and wishing death on people, only to claim afterward it was sarcasm, which we both know you only did to save face. See what it's like when people assign you your opinion and then hold it against you? You'd think having seen this example multiple times would help you learn, but surprise surprise, you don't. You're an angry little man...

Of course Dombrowski needs to get one ring before he even equals Cherington. And even then, Cherington was involved in the 2004 and 2007 rings, especially 2007 as he and Hoyer acquired Beckett while Epstein was on his sabbatical...

A nice summary. I like the deals for Sale, Smith and Thornburg. But I think Dombrowski gave up too much for Kimbrel and Pomeranz. ..

I don't think any non-White Sox trashes Kenny Williams as much as me. And while I agree with Sale that Williams was out of line for going back on his word to LaRoche, I wouldn't be surprised if Sale's outbursts expedited his departure from Chicago ...

Ok. My bad. He did have a bad history, starting with trashing Williams and Hahn over the whole Adam LaRoche thing. But then if hr didn't do that stuff, he might not have been available. Its not like thev White Sox had a bad team core to build around...

The dumbest part of that whole thing with Sale was he complained that the throwback jerseys were uncomfortable and the White Sox were more concerned with marketing than winning, but he wasn't even pitching that day. So why was that jersey such an issue for him?

Did this really actually happen? Ive searched around and never found any stories where Lackey himself said thus. Ken Rosenthal wrote an article that stated retiring was Lackey's only leverage, but Rosenthal also stated an extension was a good solution for both parties. Then lazy and stupid writers like Tony Massarotti started citing Rosenthal for reporting Lackey himself threatening to retire over playing for the minimum...

Not soft selling. Dombrowski was brought in to replace Lucchino, not Cherington, presumably because Dombrowski had worked gor Henry previously. However, Dombrowski wanted a more active role in roster decisions, and Ben didn't like the new direction for his role.

And if we're being technically accurate, that is the very definition of being fired, just phrased as softly as possible. . And Detroit should have fired him. He overextended almost every good move he made well beyond usefulness, he killed the farm and failed to replenish it, and he never seemed to address yearly glaring weaknesses on his team...

He had his good points and bad ones, much like any GM. I didn't like that he never traded any prospects, but then I also don't like Dombrowski's approach of trading them all

Agree. Outside of Moncada, and even going back to include Guerra and Margot, a lot of fans justified the deals with "that might never pan out anyway." But panning out can be a serviceable minimum wage player who enables the Sox to keep Bogaerts, Betts and Bradley and whatever other overpriced players the Sox have...

Since arriving, Dombrowski has traded awayan impressive list of prospects. But let's not go overboard. In any BA Top 100 list, you have about 10 players give or take who go on to be star players. Another 30 who are serviceable starters, another 30 who are bench players, and 30 who never make MLB beyond maybe a September call up. Those of you from BDC might recognize this as Notin's First Law of Prospects or the 10-30-30-30 Rule. By the logic of this rule, we probably traded away one star, three other starters, some bench players and AAAA fodder. At most, four players we might miss. If it is 4, we did give up a lot. Quite a bit to give up 24 years of starting MLB service time, especially if 6 of them are from a star player. We better win a title or two to justify it. But it might be less than that...

Last year he blew past the Guardians in the first, and if Chisenhall didn't hit a Pesky Pole home run that gets out of no other ballpark, he might have actually had a good outing.
