  1. Well, they were a bit hesitant to pay for anything in 2012, when the Sox had to move Marco Scutaro for budgetary reasons, and in 2017 when re-setting the luxury tax became a priority...
  2. I did and still do think that is the only chance that Price opts out, but it has always been a very slim chance. And given how last year's free agent market was for spending, it's practically a negligible one...
  3. Kelly does remind me a bit too much of Daniel Bard. and I was no fan of Bard...
  4. Typical Red Sox teams are ranked below Stephen Hawking when it comes to running. So this is improvement....
  5. As Price was being blunt, he might as well have added “And given my age, recent history of injury, and stretches of lackluster performance, the chances of another team giving me $124 mill over the next 4 years are about the same as the chances of me flapping my arms and flying to the moon.”
  6. What is the story? That a guy who perennially has griped about his contracts and blocked trades suddenly found himself unable to get anything but a minor league deal, which he probably grudgingly accepted, and then got 8 ABs and one (really awesome) hit for a team that still won 99 of their first 145 games without him?
  7. #himtoo? #harveryweinsteinintoasmallpuddleofredooze?
  8. Exactly. And those situations don't happen every game...
  9. Pinch hit for the catchers twice in one game? It's really hard to argue the value of the defense they bring on one hand while saying their offense need be so urgently replaced on the other. And really, barring a very long game, how many critical at-bats do we expect the catchers to have? And if you expect a really long game with a lot of extra innings, that brings back the extra pitcher argument...
  10. If a third catcher is so important, I’d rather see Christian Vazquez or even Dan Butler make the roster. I’d trust either of them at the plate more than I’d trust Pearce or Holt behind it. That said, I don’t think the third catcher is a high priority here...
  11. It helps get home field, but it really doesn’t mean anything else. Some of the winningest teams in MLB history had very bad postseasons to follow...
  12. Max Von Sydow in his best role ever...
  13. And the cheaper tickets. And some people don't like going to the Bronx...
  14. And a few years ago, they had a utility infielder named Kevin Ross (which was George's fiance's last name)...
  15. Mrs Syndegaard?
  16. We always assume the computer has a glitch. Maybe just one time reality is out of whack...
  17. In 14 professional seasons, Pearce has done a lot of things on major league and minor league baseball fields. Catching is on the short list of things he has not gone yet...
  18. Remember when the CFL only had 8 teams and two of them were the Roughriders?
  19. Don't forget Neil Young
  20. Workman also has a chance if Barnes cannot recover in time...
  21. The Sox could have 8 Triple Crown candidates and some would complain about that last player being the weakness that would hold them back...
  22. Let's not go that far. But I do think we in the USA saw that coming, which was why this song got nominated for an Oscar..
  23. We also think you all love Bryan Adams, Celine Dion and Ryan Reynolds...
  24. You just love those former Canadian players...
  25. It's weird to think we got this guy for Lars Anderson. remember when we had high hopes for him?
