  1. Let's not go that far. But I do think we in the USA saw that coming, which was why this song got nominated for an Oscar..
  2. We also think you all love Bryan Adams, Celine Dion and Ryan Reynolds...
  3. You just love those former Canadian players...
  4. It's weird to think we got this guy for Lars Anderson. remember when we had high hopes for him?
  5. When the radio is ahead, it gets very frustrating. For example if their play-by-play tells me a hitter strikes out chains a down and away pitch, I find myself close to yelling at the TV as the pitcher throws the ball "DON'T SWING!!"
  6. Not sure why the delay is on radio games. That would have ruined Johnny Most for me.
  7. As much as you might dislike Kelly and Hembree, I think if you saw Johnson and Velasquez try to handle their roles, you might dislike the latter two even more.
  8. As ex-players go, A-Rod is actually pretty good in the booth. I've lived through Joe Morgan up there, and, while he's probably a very nice guy, Rick Sutcliffe is so boring he could take the excitement out of an orgasm. But if you cannot handle the man out of pinstripes, I suggest doing what all Celtics' fans did in the 1970's and 1980's. Turn off the TV volume and turn up the radio...
  9. I am willing to conceded that, unlike Bogaerts, we have to deal with Devers' growing pains during what looks like a very special season for this team, and it does make him look like a weakness at the wrong time as opposed to an exciting future piece....
  10. I'm sure a lot of people were ready to hand the SS position over to Bogaerts in 2014. There was a certain irony in a thread all about praising Bogaerts that it has started to contain a lot of posts questioning the future of Devers, despite Devers being the clearly better player at the same age...
  11. Peace, Kinsler and Phillips are all free agents after this season. Maybe the Sox bring back Pearce, whose career has largely been as a bench player. I suppose they might bring back Phillips, but despite of his MiLB deal this year, has a long history of being very picky about his contracts and where he plays. 3B is easily wide open for Devers, unless the Sox bring in someone like Moustakas or Donaldson (which isn't likely). Moreland likely has 1B, although at his salary a bench role is hardly unprecedented. As for catcher, that is one position the Sox have an abundance of at the major league level. All3 backstops are under contract for next season, and of the three, Swihart is probably the most tradeable for reasons related to age/potential, salary, control and versatility. Sure, you can move, say, Leon, but takers won't be begging for him as opposed to what can be had on cheap deals or in cheap trades. If the goal is to get a catcher who excels both offensively and defensively, don't hold your breath...
  12. Exactly. That you had to go back more than a quarter of a century to find a stretch like that proves the sarcastic point I was trying to make...
  13. And when he was Devers' age, he had a .662 OPS across 644 plate appearances and wasn't exactly a dazzling defender. Back then, did people question if he was the shortstop of the future?
  14. 46 losses!!! I mean really. And in one season!!! When was the last time the Patriots lost 46 games in a season? It takes them like 9 years to lose that many!! Shows you who the real winners are...
  15. But you also have to weigh that against him being the youngest position player above A-ball in the entire organization...
  16. If Nathan Eovaldi goes to the pen, I wonder what his fastball will look like. Throwing this out there for no reason, if both Eovaldi and Kelly pitch in relief this postseason, Eovaldi will have higher radar gun readings...
  17. That may be the plan...
  18. I think it’s wrong to give Iglesias a free pass for the year he was injured. One of the biggest criticisms of him is his durability, which you’re negating that way. It would be one thing if he missed the year for say, being hit by a pitch or some other freak accident out of his control. But it wasn’t....
  19. But given the Sox lead, is there any reason to rush him back? Maybe if the hapless Yankees had whittled the lead down to 3 games by now, Sale’s timeline might look a little different...
  20. The reason the superior offensive player got the nod had nothing to do with expectations. It had the do with Bogaerts being a much better overall player. Period. While many fans do undervalue defense, it has more to do with a lack of available information on the subject and general ignorance due to the way we watch it. Defense is multi-faceted, and this cannot be ascertained by watching TV. But to most fans, I think defense gets measured in two ways: 1. Web Gems vs Errors Test, or 2. The Reputation Test. A lot of people believe a player is a good defender because they are told he is one. And because defense is so hard to evaluate, especially comparatively, many fans do not appreciate its importance..
  21. The Sox very likely keep Devers at third. Donaldson isn’t happening either. But if the Sox do make some move that relegates Moreland to the bench, it’s not a horrible thing salary-wise. He’s basically paid the same as Chris Young and Jonny Gomes were paid the be backup players...
  22. Why not dream of a lineup with Devers at 1b, Bogaerts at 3b, and Josh Donaldson at third on a reasonable pillow contract? That’s not only a better them than you proposed, but probably really close defensively, too...
  23. The Sox might also consider oft-troubled but typically effective Jeurys Famailia...
  24. Is Station aware this team has 96 wins already. That’s really not possible if 72% of the team “sucks ass”...
  25. But then the real issue with Iglesias and why he isn’t coming to Boston is he is simply a free agent at the wrong time. The Sox control Bogaerts next season and aren’t moving him to 3b. They’re probably not looking to move Devers off third for defensive reasons anytime soon, but even if they do, re-arranging 3/4 of the infield to accommodate Iglesias is not likely. Especially since it can be remedied much simpler by signing Josh Donaldson, himself a Gold Glover who might be available on a cheaper deal. Or Mike Moustakas, I think the 2019 infield will look a lot like the 2018 infield, and the Sox instead use their limited available resources on pitching...
