    Casas or Yoshida at DH. Yoshida does have options, which makes for potential depth. (Reality check - Casas will be at 1b with Lowe non-tendered. Makes me sad.) Per BTV, Duran straight up for Marte works. For Abreu, I had to add K Campbell and Paez. I go Duran here as I am not so quick to give up on Campbell. Other BTV-acceptable trade I like (but other teams might not) include Jared Hicks to Atlanta for C Sean Murphy (actually not acceptable but favors Atlanta) and OF Jhostnyxon Garcia to Cleveland for RHRP Emmanuel Clase. Build that bullpen!

    No postseason since 2014, which is a long time for a team thats had 4 MVP’s since then. But that’s not on Trout, who himself has 3 MVPs and 4 MVP runner-ups. How many players have 7 top two finishes in MVP voting?

    I think a weaker year, a year older, and final number strongly influenced by injury in the second half. It’s not a great combo. It’s beneficial to Boston if he opts out. Theyre on the short list of teams that need a 3b and can meet his asking price, and they can get him back at a lower AAV. I just don’t think he is going to do them that favor…

    Many metrics suggest Bichette should play Bregman’s position. Who were the third baseman on last years market that he competed with? And outside of Boston and Detroit, what is this years market for a 3b? Houston likely isnt since they traded Kyle Tucker for two third basemen last offseason. And Detroit’s best offer was rejected. Are they going to raise it with Bregman being a year older and slumping for 4 months? His agent will tell him one more year. I think he opts in…

    He couldn’t get the deal he wanted last year. Now Hes a year older coming off a weaker season. And this free agent class might not be so weak. Kyle Tucker, Kyle Schwarber and Bo Bichette make 3 pretty big headliners just on the offensive side. Throw in Dylan Cease and Framber Valdez and there are some good names available.

    You seem positive Bregman is a goner. But a miserable second half might make him think twice about the $40million pillow contract in his best ballpark that he has already negotiated. I can promise you this will come up in talks with his agent. Sure he might have a harder time getting a longer deal at 33 than 32, but how long and for what AAV do you guarantee a 32yo coming off a .733 OPS?     But not the moves he made on July 31st!! Sure he built a team that could make the postseason with minimal additions throughout the season, a team that could toss aside its (apparently very whiny) best hitter and wait 3 months to replace him with a refugee from a last place team carrying a negative WAR. Sure he kept this team afloat with clever trades (Narvaez) and a good bench and dug deep into his farm for an unprecedented number of rookies. But July 31!! He didn’t shop enough on the one day everyone tries to rip you off!

    If Bregman stays, will Breslow really overhaul a relatively young team that made the postseason? If Bregman opts out, it gets interesting. But if not, the Sox have two logjams to clear up - OF and 1b/DH. One (and probably only one) from Anthony, Abreu, Duran and Rafaela could get moved. They also have Casas, Campbell, Yoshida and Lowe all in the 1b/DH mix. And that only gets slightly clearer if they non-tender Lowe, which is unfortunate as he is the best all around 1b of the bunch. Some have options. Those might be used. Also I strongly believe Password will not be a 5th outfielder. If Refsnyder retires, Eaton might take his place. Hes certainly more likely to than Password…
