  1. So true. Even in his press conference, Devers was fabricating hypothetical scenarios about the Sox potentially asking him to play outfield. Betts established himself as an elite outfielder but still took infield practice even after signing his $360mill deal with LA, When asked why, he said “in case I’m needed there.” He even moved to shortstop so LA could put Jason Heyward -who hasn’t been good in years - into his position. Devers, when needed to play a new position, just whined and took everything as an insult and lived in a world of imagined scenarios..
  2. Pedroia took four years? He was ROY in 2007 and MVP in 2008!
  3. Ummmm… no. It might be a good platoon, but don’t go overboard…
  4. But from Mookie’s point of view, it’s different because he presumably would have accepted bids from Boston. Of course this is all on the assumption that these reports wet accurate…
  5. Devers is a bit pudgy by pro athlete standards, but let’s not go overboard and classify him as a Type 2 diabetic. Plenty of people with his physique (often scaled down) are perfectly healthy…
  6. How about straightforward deceitful flattery? ”Raffy, we’ve noticed that while you move to your left acceptably, but your lateral movement to your right is AMAZING. We were thinking that in order to capitalize on this exceptional skill of yours, we should move you to the other side of the diamond.”
  7. I do recall some reports that Mookie wanted to test free agency, which is not the same as wanting out of town…
  8. If Alcala could locate his fastball, we wouldn’t have him. He was available because of his wildness…
  9. I agree. Now maybe the interpreter took some liberties? My Spanish is beyond horrible. But if he said that whole “they can’t expect me to play every position” and “it’s [Breslow’s] job to go find a first baseman,” upset or not, thats just ridiculous, selfish and immature. I fail to see how asking him to play a new position AFTER AN INJURY TO A TEAMMATE is jerking him around. Grow up, Devers…
  10. And when the Sox go to SF this week, I’m putting the over/under for number of Devers home runs in that series at 3.5. I’m mad at him and don’t like him, but there should be no denying that man can hit…
  11. Bauer is done. He’s been eligible to return to MLB for years and no one wants him. Hes 34 years old now and pitching for the Yokohama Bay Stars, where he is being out pitched by teammates Andre Jackson (career minor leaguer) and Anthony Kay (journeyman reliever). No team wants to tackle the PR nightmare that is Trevor Bauer only to find out that at his age, he’s mediocre or worse. Think about how disgusted we’ve been with Buehler, and Walker had NEVER has any abuse allegations, and his troubles have all revolves around pitching himself into repeated injuries, which is far, far more acceptable behavior…
  12. If the Sox were addicted to surgically repaired pitchers, wouldn’t Sale still be here? Buehler was a “make good” contract where he was given the chance to prove he can still pitch. So far, it’s not looking good for him. It’s a one year deal thankfully, but at some point he might become DFA material, especially when they decide to see what Harrison can do. In the meantime, his job is to absorb (what will likely be very painful) innings and keep the totals down for Bello, Dobbins, Harrison, and eventually Houck…
  13. No, he was Mount Pablo. And as of today, I miss him…
  14. And Casas would be much harder to trade while getting anything back…
  15. It’s not as simple as telling Devers “hey, your defense at third base is killing us, so we’re moving you.” I’m not entirely sure thats any better. And what happens if you tell Devers that, and then you still cannot get an upgrade? The Cardinals want you to take all of Arenado’s money and want Roman Anthony? Bregman prefers the Detroit offer? Do you then go back to Devers and say “about your defense and that new 3b, April Fools!” (I do not think the Cardinals were that unreasonable. Just making a point that the deal could fall apart.) And I seem to recall Bloom’s initial extension offer to Devers paralleling a contract that was signed about that time by Matt Olson, and the explanation was they envision Devers’ future at 1b. If that’s true, it has come up before. And it’s probably why Devers was asking about his future at 3b to begin with…
  16. That goes for any team. They averaged 4.84 RPG with Devers. They’re not going to average 3 runs per game without him. Not for long stretches at least…
  17. Just pointing out a fact. And a reminder that these streaks are built on pitching. While I have been appalled by Devers’ attitude, I never wanted him traded…
  18. I meant you bulked up the number of pieces eaters. I considered Sam less culpable than you did…
  19. Trade for Rhys Hoskins (David Hamilton?) and sign Polar Bear Pete after the season…
  20. I edited it to explain. In didnt count on you responding so fast. I wondered how Sam is 10% at fault here…
  21. Ive said that multiple times. If so, f*** him! What a selfish a-hole…
  22. You had 5 pie eaters! 20% is a normal share! But you even bulked those pastry aficionados. Beyond just assuming hes just guilty of everything, how is Sam 10% at fault here? Or is that his Default Blame Percentage, or DBP as the kids say?
  23. Maybe with the Legend of Nomar. The whole “sulking in the dugout” thing has been refuted by multiple sources. And Nomar had no issues playing new positions. Did you know after leaving Boston, he only played SS in a total of 57 more games?
