  1. To what? Catch Tampa? None. 9.5 back with 8 to play. That race been run. Defeat Tampa this week? Solid, especially after taking game one. Arrive in Tampa? A bit late but it was always fairly high. Leave Tampa on a flight that departs on time? I go with a solid 10-15%. Defeat Tampa in the postseason? Let’s get through round one first. And make that depart one 5-10%
  2. I still wouldn’t start Duran. He hasn’t earned it this year. He should be on the bench along with Jones (DH platoon with Gasper), Sogard, and Wong. If you insist Sogard should start over IKF, I would concede that small point. The big point is - Duran to the bench…
  3. Duran to the bench to fill the Dave Robert’s Role. What’s he done to earn postseason starts? Had two career hits off Schlittler? Big deal…
  4. Labor negotiations haven’t caused a single regular season MLB game to be cancelled since 1995. Yet every 6 years we do this “season is in jeopardy” song and dance. Not worrying about it until March at the earliest…
  5. Almost counters the Sox massive stroke of bad luck in building a pitching/defense team that watched its ace pitch 6 games and go down for the year…
  6. But if you take out all the Sox home runs since the ASB, they have NONE! Scary thought, right?
  7. Why? 3.03 FIP, 4.88 K/BB, 3 of 16 inherited runners scored. Doubtful the Sox can find 8 better relief pitchers…
  8. And even less of a chance than that if he was over 40 and hit like you…
  9. Understood , because it takes a while to write the type of “logic” normally only found in a Monty Python movie…
  10. Houston doesn’t need Boston’s help to fall out of contention…
  11. Really? What standard are you using for better? The Sox are three times more games over .500 than Cleveland, Chicago, and Toronto combined. But somehow all 3 are better. Yeah that makes sense. Cleveland and Chicago are .500 teams that play in a sub.500 division where being mediocre gets confused with being good. If you were a fan of either of those teams you would immediately name Boston as better. But then why use the same standards? I mean, the Red Sox are 6-0 against the White Sox and have a better record. But somehow the White Sox are better. Got it. And if the Jays are better, why are they 6.5 games behind Boston in the standings? Heck why arent the Jays even a .500 team?
  12. Name 6 better American League teams that deserve it more…
  13. I’m hoping he’s at least playing for his postseason role. If he keeps this up - hopefully bench…
  14. Yeah. Cora loved him in the leadoff role. And while he was hitting ..220 or so when he got hurt, his OBP was up over .350…
  15. I do hope the primary reason they are batting Anthony at leadoff is to just give him as many PA as possible before October…
  16. The Astros do suck. They just suck less than the rest of the AL West…
  17. While it’s a long shot, it’s actually possible that 4 teams in the American League East finish over .500 and no one else in the AL does…
  18. He’ll probably cut his hand on the lock…
  19. They get paid win or lose. But how bad do you think the injuries to Contreras, Rafaela and Guerrero really are/were? Are these serious injuries or just bumps and bruises and the Sox figured “give them some time off so they’re as healthy as possible for the postseason?” And it gives the Sox opportunity to figure out who makes to the roster in the first round. Gasper looked like a long shot a month ago. Now he’s all but a lock and Wong might be outside looking in. Monasterio is on the fringes while Sogard has all but cemented a spot in that first series. Eli White was getting chances to prove he should or should not go before he went down. (And now there’s talk of Braiden Ward being included. Probably not a coincidence)…
  20. It really does seem Tracy is more interested in bringing Story, Anthony and (maybe even) IKF up to speed. And also in not burning up his staff. The chances of passing the Yankees are almost nil. The chances of either Cleveland or Chicago passing Boston are pretty slim (although Cleveland, with 3 games left vs Boston, has the significantly better shot), and really, not exactly disastrous. And the chances of the Sox falling completely out of the postseason are extremely low as well. So what exactly are they playing for?
  21. And yet. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2026/09/red-sox-weighing-possible-playoff-promotion-for-braiden-ward.html
