  1. Brian Johnson turns 28 next month. At what age do you start to expect any improvements to be minimal at best?
  2. Panda was a stupid contract, but Pedroia wasn’t. The money wasn’t outrageous. It’s just that the guy got hurt. That’s going to happen...
  3. The international draft money is a bigger deal than one draft pick one season...
  4. I’m still waiting for his comeback. Any day now...
  5. How can we pick 10 picks after the last pick? That would require there be at least 9 other picks after the last pick, which means it isn’t the last pick...
  6. Did you follow my instructions to the letter?
  7. Let me give you some helpful computer pointers. First, computers are filled with delicate electronics that can be damaged by electricity. In no way should you let any electricity near your computer. Unplug it from the wall. Remove the battery. Make sure the power is not on and no dangerous amps are destroying your computer’s innards. Once you have done that, come back for your next lesson...
  8. While I get what you’re saying, you’re using OPS. This means your .027 difference is actually 13.5 singles over 1000 at bats, as they get counted in both OBP and SLG. My point here is that in trying to prove that difference is miniscule, and it is, it’s even more miniscule than you were saying...
  9. Does he say stuff like this every year?
  10. I can teach you the finer point of scouting aka Notin’s Laws of Prospects Law #1 Never get excited about anyone in A-ball. Law #2 Never get excited about anyone in AAA whose over 26 or been at that level for3 years or more.
  11. Right. Just draft hope 10 picks later...
  12. Oh I think we see a lot of things differently. For example, you saw Bryce Brentz as young and a major leaguer;)
  13. That would also explain why UVM alum and Vermont native Kirk McCaskill had arm troubles throughout his career...
  14. Oh I’m sure my nomination will get seconded. And thirded. And fourthed. And so on and so on....
  15. Can I be the smart one? J/k cp. But I had to beat you to the obvious punchline:)
  16. If so, they’ll find a stopgap shortstop. Possibly one who isn’t a big offensive contributor like Iglesias...
  17. Or a “Don’t Come Back” Poster of the Year Award...
  18. Per MLBTR the Mets are listening. The Sox are out. If his price is similar to what the White Sox got for Sale, it would require 2 Top 30 MLB prospects. As the Red Sox have none, any deal would involve Devers and probably Benintendi. Hard pass. Thankfully the Yankees dealt Sheffield for James Paxton. S combination of Sheffield and Andujar probably would have done it...
  19. I hope you might see the humor in a player injuring himself allegedly playing a video game and then parlaying that into a Comeback Player of the Year award...
  20. Which they could do again if the acquired Andujar. Or they could flip Andujar, whose appeal would not be limited to high-spending teams, for a player or players that fit other specific needs. You know, if only they could get around those tortuous MLB rules about trading newly acquired players. ( Oh wait. Those don’t exist.) Any trade of Kluber will involve getting back the best players possible regardless of position. But if they wanted Andujar - and they probably did. - they would probably just do exactly what they did before when they acquired Donaldson..
  21. Yes having Eovaldi close should in theory reduce his chances of injury. But if MLBTR projections are correct, the difference between him and Kimbrel is only $2.5mill per season. Is using Eovaldi as a closer instead of Kimbrel, inarguably among the best in the game in that role right now, worth saving $2.5mill? Of course, the real money (and years) both are paid is still undetermined. But at what point is it the better move to just bring back Kimbrel over trying Eovaldi?
  22. But if MLBTR projections are close, what is the advantage of signing Eovaldi to close over Kimbrel?
  23. Then why did they trade for Josh Donaldson last year?
  24. That might have been the case. Probably why you moved on to Paxton. Although 3 years of Kluber at his current AAV might have been worth Andujar...
