  1. So Bleacher Report proposed “Draft Day Trades That Make Sense” Two of them involved the Celtics, both with the Rockets 1. Baynes, Williams, and picks 20 and 23 for Clint Capela 2. Hayward strsight up for Chris a Paul Do these trades make sense? For both teams? Maybe one mega-blockbuster with Hayward, Baynes, Williams and picks 20 and 22 to Houston for Paul and Capela?
  2. So apparently the Rays are exploring the idea of playing half their home games in Tampa and the other half in Montreal, which, I’m going out on a limb here, would make them the first team in North American professional sports history, to have two home cities simultaneously. I like the idea, especially for a well run but poorly supported Rays’ team. I do wonder if they will add Montreal to their moniker. Will they be the Tampa-Montreal Rays? Or the Tampa Rays half the year and the Montreal Rays the other half? Or the Montreal Expos the other half? Or just adopt an non-specific geography, like the Continental Rays? And what will they do when they realize the Expos left Montreal because they couldn’t draw in that city either? I propose they change their mascot from Rays to Ghosts. Since they’ll still not be seen by anyone...
  3. No real free agency rumors yet, not surprising with the draft hours away. The Celtics aren’t likely to get an impact player in the draft a d seem to be linked heavily to Herro and Bol. Not sure how I feel about that. I do think they’ll try heavily to move up, but we’ll see how that goes...
  4. The Lakers were one game over .500 with LeBron. While that record/pace does typically make the playoffs, you don’t often last very long...
  5. With the exception of the game he left early for health reasons and the Texas game where he was getting shelled, Price has also thrown at least 83 pitches in all his starts prior. The one exception was the 67 pitch game you called out, but Price left that game with a 6-2 lead, not a 1-1 tie. I had to make 83 the cutoff, but really it’s the only remaining game below 90 pitches ( also it was only his second start this season), Price has thrown 100 pitches in a game twice this year, maxing out at 103. He’s also thrown more than 90 pitches 5 additional times. The 73 pitch outing stands alone in that it’s the only time this year Price has thrown less than 90 in a close game without health issues...
  6. Margot’s been weak and Guerra is converting to pitcher. (Apparently he throws about 98mph.). Asuaje was never anything more than a utility infielder. Kopech’s been hurt. A lot. Basabe is struggling a bit in AA, but was killing in A ball this year...
  7. I’ll allow it. I don’t think anyone wants to undo that trade, although the progress of Allen and Moncada has certainly quashed the myth from a couple years ago that the prospects the Sox gave up for Kimbrel and Sale were all busts...
  8. No. I’m “on record” as to being open-minded about the situation. If Cora pulled him, say, to keep his IP down, that was not the game to do it. But I do think the decision was made with information I don’t have, and Price himself made some comment about it not being “on Alex”, which makes me think maybe Price asked to come out for some reason...
  9. He may have been sarcastic...
  10. Really? The Sox are over .500 now, but you’re predicting they will finish under .500? With your track record for spot on predictions on team performance? Now that stork has chimed in, I am confident this team will win 105 games...
  11. Yes!!! Panic time!!! The Yankees Magic Number is 77!!! Time’s getting short!!
  12. We really need someone to bite the bullet and watch a Seagal movie. Just a minute or so might be enough...
  13. We know the answer. The Sox couldn’t afford to take on as much cash as the Yankees...
  14. There seems to be a very sharp drop pfff once a player turns 30. This year’s most interesting free agent might be Nick Castellanos. He’s 28, but not exactly elite...
  15. And Josh Smith is back!! In case you missed him...
  16. Was there a possibility he didn’t lose that game? Britton might have given up a run and list as well, but there is a difference between getting beaten with your best and getting beaten while taking half measures. And that difference was shown in the beating Showalter took afterwards...
  17. And Carson Smith got released. His career has fizzled and might even be over...
  18. As he should have been. Showalter was managing for the save. But he needed to keep putting up 0’s on the bottom of the scoreboard, and lost the game because he wouldn’t use his pitcher most capable of putting up 0’s. He managed for the save and it cost him the win...
  19. How many innings do you expect a bullpen to hold a one run lead? It’s not like Price gave them 7 innings and the bullpen coughed it up in the last 2. That pen pitched OVER ELEVEN INNINGS. More than a full game. They used every active relief pitcher. Blaming the bullpen for last night’s loss is like blaming Eovaldi for the loss on the World Series...
  20. Exactly. So before the Hector Velasquez-types. Which is why Velasquez blowing that save isn’t a reflection on the closer situation...
  21. O I know. As has Price (when not getting shelled early). But I’m reaching for the negative possibilities here. I don’t think he’s that stupid...
  22. Agreed. Otherwise I agree with you that it was stupid. Even if he thought he could get more IP from his bullpen because of the job Porcello did the night before, that would be dumb. A couple nights off for the pen in mid-June is rarely a bad thing...
  23. So when do you use him at home? Once you go to extra innings, he can’t get a save. Once you take the lead, the game is over...
  24. Unless there is something wrong with Price, even if it’s a mild issue. I’m hoping Cora isn’t going to put insanely low pitch counts on Price and Sale the rest of the way. I’m hoping he isn’t that stupid. Because if that’s the case, this bullpen will be completely spent before the All Star break...
  25. They did, but once was their best reliever this season and the other time was in the 13th inning with their 7th reliever of the game. I can’t fault the 7th relief pitcher used for not saving the game. If the Sox had Kimbrel or even Mariano Rivera in his prime, it’s not like they were going to save him for the 13th inning and use the rest of the bullpen in front of him. The offense was the problem. They had plenty of opportunities to score and failed nearly every time...
