  1. You’d think this team didn’t win 119 games one year ago...
  2. The Sox plan to activate Steven Wright this week. And the. Nationals just released Trevor Rosenthal. Rose th has been awful this year but he is very much the type of reliever DD loves ...
  3. The 2012 Red Sox also had a massive fire-sale in August...
  4. But you need to get to the postseason before that becomes a factor...
  5. Which are both the bet chances at repeating in all of MLB...
  6. I’ve been on the bullpen bandwagon since November. The only reason I think they get a starter it’s easier to use a starter for a reliever than it is to use a reliever as a starter...
  7. Apparently Belicheck is better at baseball strategy than baseball managers?
  8. In 2014, the Tigers started Verlander-Sherzer-Price in a postseason series vs the Orioles and lost all three games...
  9. Well you left Barnes off his list. Beni or Frazier? Gotta go Beni there Casas or Garcia? Casas is ranked mid-90s or so. Garcia? Unranked. Point - Casas That leaves Estrada vs Barnes. Is Estrada more valuable yhan Barnes at all?
  10. Only 3 of those 15 were in the ninth inning. Having a closer wouldn’t make this big of a difference...
  11. Ok tell me why Renfroe’s teammates think he’s a good teammate. Tell me about his clutch performances. Plural...
  12. So you’re saying you’d rather draft 10 spots better than win the World Series?!?! You must HATE the Yankees this year. Their draft position looks like it could be horrible!!
  13. Not as much as you think. A lot of games have had multiple blown saves...
  14. The argument loses something when you start making stuff up about the guy...
  15. So you’re saying they DON’T pay attention to it?
  16. Ketel Marte has 20 home runs. He’s like 5’9 160 lbs, and on his career, had only 22 home runs in the majors and minors combined!! So yeah, ball is juiced...
  17. Well, you also guaranteed the Sox would add a closer and Steve Pearce would get 4 years $36mill. The Sox will cross the final barrier if it is the best overall move. They crossed all the other barriers. Why stop now?
  18. Are you suggesting trading Benintendi for Renfroe? Renfroe is two years older, a weak defensive outfielder whose only trick is hitting home runs during a season where EVERYONE is hitting home runs. Maybe the Sox move Benintendi for a pitcher and pursue Renfroe. But not until November...
  19. To play where? Unless the Sox are dealing Benintendi, they don’t need Renfroe right now...
  20. Maybe the Rays could represent a return of MLB to Brooklyn. They could slightly change their nickname from Rays to Famous Original Rays...
  21. If it lead to the Rays making more money and then spending more on players, the Union might change that position...
  22. ... which is immaterial when I was taking about Minor as a Yankee trade acquisition. The Sox likely can’t afford him prospect-wise...
  23. He’s mediocre and not desirable, but the Sox could acquire him as a swingman. BLtimore reportedly would give him away and he’s probably an upgrade over Johnson. See Cashner comments. Bear in mind the Sox don’t have a lot of great trade chips. Probably worth avoiding, even if healthy in 5 weeks. Maybe I’m underestimating the Sox trade fodder, but I think pitchers like this might be in play. And still might be upgrades over Weber/Velasquez/Johnson, etc. These guys might be the biggest rental starters to move. Both are going somewhere, unless Cincy switches gears and decides to make a run. Ok I admit I missed that. But Eood is always hurt and would be a questionable target even if he was healthy. He has two states : hurt, and “about to get hurt” He is possible, but I hope the Sox don’t get another lefty. And is not someone the cost-cutting Mariners are prioritizing to trade. He’s cheap. And so is his option.
  24. Do the Yankees have two top 100 prospects? They had none in the BA pre-season rankings...
  25. As a California native and ASU alum, he might prefer the west coast. But I think the competitive athlete in him would want to escape the Seattle rebuild. I’m not a huge Leake fan, but getting him would certainly answer any questions about re-signing Porcello. The Sox would likely try to dump salary back at Seattle, like Steven Pearce, for example. Maybe throw in Tyler Thornburg. As we have established, Seattle does seem more interested in jettisoning financial commitments than acquiring talent...
