It’s ok to be built on SP, but that doesn’t justify ignoring the bullpen. Since the WS, the Sox have lost Kimbrel and Kelly from the bullpen and the only relievers added since were Brewer and Taylor. I like that he went out for a bunch of minor league FA, but that has amounted to 0 IP in Boston this year. And as I’ve been saying way too often, I don’t get why he ignored the bullpen with his limited resources to focus on backup 1b. I didn’t know at the time how little financial wiggle room he had, but I very hope he knew...

While what happens is out of control, that doesn’t make sitting idly by the best course of action, does it? And I haven’t once mentioned the wisdom in letting the back end of the bullpen walk only to replace them with a 26yo career minor leaguer, all while spending the limited budget on a backup 1b and a SP with a long history of injuries (who, notably, has been injured nearly all season)...

Yes, if we had more games where we outscored the opposition, our record would be better. After 2013, Ben Cherington did nothing and went from First to Worst. After 2018, Dombrowski did nothing include learn the lesson from Cherington. Acceptable?

Well how did he try to improve it? It’s been bad all year, has he taken any steps? Did he follow through on anything? Or do you think “live or die with Plan A” is the right course of action here?

Disagree. A man I used to work with (he retired) summed up the need for progress even when you’re on top so eloquently - “ if you stand still, you’re roadkill.” DD stood still since November, by his own choice...

The extension of Bogaerts might be the only thing Dombrowski did right all year. If Sale turns it around next year, that will be two. But if Sale continues to pitch like this, Dombrowski will have Tigered this team faster than I thought he could.,,

Cora is a second year manager. Mistakes are to be expected. Dombrowski has been an MLB GM for over 25 years and a front office executive for over 40 years. He should know by now what he is doing...

ONE major outlet. ONE!!!! Not EVERY major outlet, as you claimed. What’s your next step? Discredit MLB.com and Fangraphs while hyping BP as the one true source? You do know the attrition rate of prospects, right? Chances are stacked against him anyway. He’s NOT an elite prospect and a better prospect was dealt for a lesser pitcher. The Yankees were offered a gift!! And you praise Cashman for walking away. Why? Because BP liked him more than everyone else? Or because you can’t fathom the Yankees trading their best prospect for anything less than a superstar?

When two of three list don’t put you in the top 60, you’re NOT an “elite level prospect.” The Sox best prospect is ranked 90-95 on most list. Mathematically, Garcia is as close or closer to Casas in the 90s than he is to the Top 25. Really it just looks like you want to hold him because he’s the best the Yankees have. But that alone doesn’t mean he’ll be any good. Let’s get real about Garcia. Jesus Sanchez is ranked ahead of him on MLB.com, and he was traded for Trevor Richards (who was removed from the Marlins’ rotation) and Nick Anderson, a rookie having a nice seaon, but also turned TWENTY NINE YEARS OLD last month. And yet lower-ranked Garcia isn’t worth 1.5 years of Stroman?

All I said was top 5 in ERA. No one said “top 5 pitcher” until you truncated my sentence, which is your error. As for him being top 5 in ERA, he is fifth in the American League. It’s actually true. And yes, I think Cashman made big mistake holding a borderline top 70 prospect as being more important than his team’s floundering season. And because Cashman made that poor decision, you’ll have a lot more time to extol the virtues of Deivi Garcia to me this October...

Tried that last year and couldn’t move him. The Sox might have to cut bait with Bradley this off-season. Personally I think the chances of non-tendering Bradley and using Castillo (of whom Dombrowski was not a fan at his tryout) are slim. But it might be the right move...
