  1. To make this work on BTV (and using highest-valued prospects that fit ): Boston gets Ryan and Jax from Minnesota Philly gets Jarren Duran from Boston and Jhoan Duran from Minnesota Minnesota gets Aidan Miller, Justin Crawford, Mick Abel, and Eduardo Tait from Philly. And Kristian Campbell and Allan Castro from Boston. (Campbell could be replaced by Peyton Tolle and Franklin Arias, but BTV has a 6 player limit and I was just taking highest value that fits. Campbell did.) The big change is Philly actually giving something of value up as opposed to taking on two All Star players with multiple years of control each, and only giving up two borderline top 100 (and zero top 90!) prospects…
  2. Most of Bloom’s shortstop draftees fell into the category of “best player on his high school team” and were never expected to suck at shortstop…
  3. The win tonight makes us 3-5 against the three NL division leaders. Still 2-5 in the games I was talking about. The Sox are looking at 3-6 or 4-5 in a pretty crazy 9 game stretch. I’m fine with it. There was some talk the Sox needed to go at least 4-5 in these games, which was ridiculous. They absolutely didnt NEED to. But they might do it. We’re not sellers. No go get Yandy and some pitching…
  4. So you’re a Philly fan now? I thought you were down on Desperate Dave?
  5. I’m sure Cora has some input, but isnt Breslow ultimately responsible for callling players up?
  6. No better way to slow down Boston’s future than trade a 34yo first baseman for some part of Boston’s future. Plus with three wild cards, the division doesn’t mean what it used to…
  7. Why? Will it change their record over the previous 7 games?
  8. Sell because they went 2-5 against three first place teams? Yeah I bet no World Series Champion ever went 2-5 over a 7 game stretch before…
  9. Nick Kurtz became the only player in MLB history with all of the following 1. A game with 4 HRs 2. A game with 6 hits 3. A game with 6 runs scored 4. A game with 8 RBI 5. And a game with 5 extra base hits And he did it all in the same game yesterday…
  10. Agreed. Grissom had an .854 OPS in June and has a .992 OPS in July. What does he need to do to get a call up? Kill the Wicked Witch of the West?
  11. So Twins fans don’t like it either? That doesn’t change that the Phillies clearly dominate this deal. In BTV, Philly gains over $50mil in surplus value, Minnesota about $10mill in surplus value and Boston loses over $40mill. Minnesota comes closest to breaking even. Boston gets destroyed in their model…
  12. So the Phillies trade away MLB prospects #93 and #97 and get back Jarren Duran AND Johan Duran? Meanwhile thr Red Sox trade prospects #54, #72 and #100 PLUS 3 years of Jarren Duran for the marginally better package of Ryan, Jax, and the rights to pay Christian Vazquez’ salary? The goal of this trade appears to be to funnel as many prospects as possible to Minnesota regardless of which team they come from. Philly fans would love this deal. Twins fans think it’s fair. Red Sox fans would see their team get sodomized. Want to make it more fair? Boston keeps Tolle and Philly includes Aiden Miller. Probably not enough but at least Philly pays something…
  13. 7 out of 162 is not a significant number. We get caught up in the parity of MLB to think that it is, and don’t want to recognize it because it can cost hundreds of millions for teams to improve minimally…
  14. Myself and Guardians GM Stephen Vogt still disagree. Yoshida, even free, does nothing for the Guardians except block CJ Krayfus. Arias is nice. Password is probably overrated by Sox fans. Soxprospects. calls him a “potential platoon outfielder”. So essentially - Arias for Clase? I doubt it comes close..
  15. Zero chance the Sox get Clase for Yoshida, Romero, Arias, and Password…
  16. I think I pegged Clase’s value pretty well in the Cubs trade - two BA Top 100 prospects and a controllable (but possibly fungible) MLB pitcher…
  17. Hearing whispers that with the Dodgers in town, the two teams have had a conversation about a swap involving Franklin Arias and Brandon Clarke for Dalton Rushing…
  18. It is situational. And risky for the team loading the bases…
  19. The Montauk Monster is a dead raccoon, so the fight was presumably very easy. Probably even easier than taking down that toy submarine that’s been terrorizing Loch Ness for decades…
