  1. 3 down. 27 to go...
  2. That depends. At what point was Crane aware what was going on? Or Henry?
  3. None of that has anything to do with Manfred...
  4. So does that mean that before this off-season, these 4 sportswriters thought there was potential value in dealing Price? That Price would be a straight up salary dump became obvious in 2016. Ditto Eovaldi. The only Sox players I expected anything of value from who were potential trade bait were Betts and some from Bradley. I also think Sale at some point could have serious value on that contract assuming he can prove he isn’t hurt...
  5. So... Betts, Bradley, Workman, Hembree, Barnes, Price and Eovaldi? Have to wait a bit to sell of Perez...
  6. There's more than one Cora with coaching experience...
  7. Exactly. He might have been aware of this for years, but he also might have just learned about it in the last 2 months. There is too much presumption of guilt here...
  8. Exactly how has he tried to bury the story? As far as any of us know, this story isn't that old. Fiers only started talking 2 months ago...
  9. I would think the juiced baseballs are a bigger story and blackmark on his regime.
  10. We have no idea when Manfred knew and when he started his investigation, or that he tried to bury the story. And even if your version is the truth, how does that differ from any other MLB scandal, starting with the Black Sox, through the Pittsburgh Drug Trials and right up to PED's?
  11. I think it will be Matt Quatraro. Bloom will hire someone he knows. And Quatraro is a former catcher, which does translate into better managing skills in many cases...
  12. Wrong. Teams might know you're underselling, say, Betts, and make a non-competitive offer. But that just makes it easier for another team to come in with a better offer. And if that one is still low, someone else (or the oginial team) comes back with an even better one. As long as there are mutliple interestd bidders, it will work out. With some of the mega contracts like Price, it does get tougher, but it still can be done. The Mariners did pretty well unloading Robinson Cano. It's not like they were fighting to keep that contract. And they did so with very likely just one team that was interested...
  13. How are you villifying Manfred here? That's like deciding your neighborhood has too many fires, so you get rid of the fire department...
  14. Why would Manfred want it to go away? This could be his signature campaign - he could go down in MLB history as the man who cleaned up illegal sign stealing. It's much better than his previous trademark - the man who gave us juiced baseballs...
  15. Is it too soon to start the “Fire Ron Roenicke” thread? Or should we wait until he is actually hired?
  16. Isn’t that tantamount to blackballing?
  17. If Beltran does get fired, he will have done so without ever managing an MLB game. How long is that list?
  18. Getting fired is NOT an MLB punishment. This is about the Mets distancing themselves from this scandal...
  19. It’s never explained...
  20. Baby Yoda for manager?
  21. This isn’t college sports with stripped titles and vacated awards. In professional sports, fans and only fans call for asterisks and championships be labeled as dirty. And the reality is, every team cheats and everyone knows it. But a lot of fans go into denial about their own team...
  22. He’s usually only tough on younger pitchers...
  23. Maybe get rid of hand signals and 2b
  24. New York post suggests Varitek, Dusty Baker or Matt Quatraro. If the Sox just go for it, Baker is the guy. But I would imagine Bloom will seriously consider his former Tampa employee Quatraro. Varitek strikes me as a fan choice and nothing more...
  25. Time to hire Dusty Baker. The man brings teams to the postseason. His big drawback is he’s terrible for rookies. But hey, the Sox have a weak farm system and will probably lose a bunch of high draft picks anyway so that shouldn’t be a problem...
