  1. I can agree with that. But it is fairly tough to pull off too many trades in such a short time. Any discussion would hopefully already have started...
  2. Very possible. however, they might call up Duran or move Chavis to the OF. Or get an OF back in a trade. And maybe Beni returns at some point? Updates on him have been pretty limited. Probably because no one really cares with the year he was having...
  3. THat's situational. A team like Cleveland that has struggled with OF all year might want a solid starter. But certainly some teams might prefer the depth. The interesting part here is teams looking for a platoon have the option of a hitter from either side. If either goes, I prefer it be Pillar. That way it removes the temptation to platoon Verdugo (assuming Pillar is not the starting CF)...
  4. Well, he is hitting. Something JBJ stopped doing after the first few days of the season. But if I was a GM looking for a CF, I would target Bradley over Pillar...
  5. I think that's how they title their media guide...
  6. Maybe I should not have left him off my list. His last 6 appearances have brought his ERA down from 10.50 to 4.97. There are a couple ways to value that...
  7. Friedman might be the best GM in the game. Although his job starts getting tougher when Bellinger get into arb years. He's probably already going to lose Seager after next season...
  8. I didn't list Braiser among my candidates, probably becuase I am not a fan and cannot see any team thuiking he is a missing piece. It is worth noting that historically, relievers are better trade chips at the deadline because they bring back better returns than position players. The additional control and lower salary do help Brasier's cause, but Pillar is rocking this year. Tough call...
  9. I give them credit for the best uniforms.
  10. He thinks "full blown rebuild" nd only full blown rebuild. Was he not watching baseball in 2012 through 2016?
  11. I would argue he does not have any more versatility. Bradley can handle LF and RF and probably does as well or better than Pillar. He certainly has a better arm, which gives him an advantage over Pillar in RF. Pillar does have an advantage in that he is substantially cheaper...
  12. True in a sense that the other 3 are all controlled for next season. If 2021 goes South by the deadline, all can be dealt then. However, if the Sox want better prospects back, those are the worst two trading chips. There are pros and cons everywhere...
  13. Doesn't Mookie give you a little love for Dodger Blue?
  14. It is garbage, but it will be their garbage going forward...
  15. So with about 7 hours to go, is Bloom done or can he negotiate any more deals? Top candidates to be dealt are Barnes, Perez, Vazquez, Bradley and Pillar. Any thoughts on who if anyone goes? I think he can move one outfielder (either one) and maybe Barnes. But that's probably about it. Unless someone offers him a deal too good to pass up, I doubt he moves Vazquez, his most valuable chip among these five names...
  16. A Gold Glove 1b at DH?
  17. They have used a few pitching arms like Peterson this year. Positionwise their top guy is Ronny Mauricio, a 19yo SS in A ball. Nothing in their farm really dazzles me. Tampa does have a few intriguing arms like Shane Baz (BA #71), Brent Honeywell (BA #80, but who gets hurt a lot), Joe Ryan (BA #98), and Trevor Richards (whom Bloom acquired last year at the deadline along with Nick Anderson). Overall I'd rather deal with Tampa here. but ultimately with only about 7 hours to go, I have my doubts Vazquez goes anywhere...
  18. The counter argument is the Padres fo have $81mill over the next 5 years tied up in another player who plays the same position...
  19. Actually I just like baseball talk. If I was actually the GM, I’d overthink every trade until after the deadlines all passed...
  20. And Arauz is not the solution...
  21. It is really funny how much Peraza and his .658 OPS is reviled while Arauz and his .684 OPS is beloved...
  22. The problem sports teams have in San Diego is their competition is the beaches and the weather. When the Padres suck, their fans just say “surf’s up!” and don’t even think baseball until next season...
  23. I think Yankee fans overestimate the value of Tauchman. Teams dealing aces don’t do so for packages around 29yo platoon players. Also, the Guardians had Frazier once already. They didn’t want him. Baseballtradevalues.com places the value of Clevinger at $38.4 million in surplus value. The values of Tauchman and Frazier are $6.8mill and $6.1mill respectively. Basically our package was bad but so was yours. The difference is the Sox could (if so inclined) offer Alex Verdugo ($46.1mill) for Clevinger
  24. Francisco Alvarez is 18 years old and has barely played Rookie Ball. He’s not a factor in acquiring Vazquez, unless they send him back...
  25. Padres are close to acquiring Austin Nola. That would take them off Vazquez...
