If the ownership group is concerned about PR, they should be well aware the best way to create any positive PR would be to spend some $$$ on a couple free agents to improve the team. Fans like nothing more than hearing money is not going to be an obstacle to success...

Why bother with the smokescreen? Only like 4 teams have been active, and all of them for short, hyperactive stretches only. I am not so sure Bloom or any GM is as obsessed with the timing of moves as much as us fans are. Or if he is, it's not in the same way...

I'm sure his agent thinks his versatility should increase his AAV. but unless another team gets involved, not sure what other options he has. I think if they sign Kike, it's for 2B only. For some reason, I am still totally convinced Bloom i going to sign Brad Miller for a LHH utility role...

Even if they are right, who play RF? And LF if Benintedi actually does get traded? Renfroe can handle one position, but then what? Cesar Puello? Puello is a bench player at best, and only a starter on a tanking team. And that is coming from his biggest (re: only) supporter...

Oh God please no. Granted, Renfroe is better than anyone he brought in for 2020, since at least Renfroe can be considered a starting OF. But so far his only pitching additions (Andriese and Gossett) fit right in with last year's cast of castoffs...

I don't mind the speculation, but I would like to know where the whole "Sox are not signing any outfielders" comes from. I wonder if they do a best RF list,will Verdugo also be on that?

Who cares what MLB.com says? they have Springer at number 3, and no one even knows where he will be playing this year. If he signs with one of these teams (like the Mets, who have repeatedly been attached to him), they have Nimmo on this list already. Will they both play CF?

From where? I would think they have to, because right now we have only 3 outfielders and one of them is reportedly going to be dealt within the next 3 days.

Hopefully. There are still a fwe good relievers out there. Soxprospects.com thinks the Sox need 1 reliever. but I would greatly prefer getting two. Some of the better ones still available include: Keone Kela Brad Hand Brad Peacock Trevor Rosenthal Brad Workman Kirby Yates Hector Rondon Chris Devenski Yusmeiro Petit Alex Colome Most of them have not had any public rumors attached yet. But then until yesterday, neither did Bradley...

His 2013 season with Boston was only worth 2.5 fWAR. He was worth more for Boston in 2010, when he was worth 3.3. His 2008 season was only worth 1.4 fWAR, but his 2009 was worth 3.3. He really peaked in 2005 through 2007, when he was worth 15.6 fWAR...

Well, I think we only call him an "Ace" because of his post-season performance, especially the game against Verlander. During the regular season, he was actually rather vanilla. Losing W-L record. 2.5 fWAR. Good ERA, but his 2 of his next 3 seasons were better...

But that might be a bit unfair because sometimes we hand out the "ace" label after the ring season. No one would have called Lackey an ace after 2012, a season he missed for TJ, or after 2010-11, in which he pitched 61 games with a 5.26 ERA and combined for 4.2 fWAR. Was he any more of an ace then than ERod is now? (Hint: ERod had 5.9 fWAR in his last two seasons before missing 2020. So, no. Lackey was not.)
