  1. Technically 3+ years. I seriously doubt the 2012 mess he inherited was held against him when the front office made the decision to hire Dombrowski. The title in 2013 had to wipe it clean. And he was not around for the end of the 2015 season. They moved on DD during August of 2015. So that end result was not a factor in the decision to turnover the front office.
  2. The Dodgers actually had an odd habit of taking carer utility infielders (Jamey Carroll, Justin Turner, Chris Taylor, Max Muncy, Enrique Hernandez) and turning them into All Star caliber starters. The Red Sox have a glut of utility infield types right now, including Peraza, Arauz, and Lin, but cannot get any type of production from them. I think it's Yairo Munoz Time!!
  3. Cherington won a World Series, missed the post-season one time, and was replaced/quit before missing a second. Historically, the leash does not look long...
  4. Oh I am sure teams asked. Cleveland was one, and did acquire another outfielder (Naylor) as part of a blockbuster deal. San Fran might have found the asking price too steep or possibly their interest was overblown...
  5. Or throwing together another pitching staff barely suitable for Rhode Island?
  6. Who are you responding to? It's very unclear...
  7. The Buffalo Jays sounds more like a folk rock band...
  8. Agreed. I'm on the Bauer Bandwagon. But there i a good chance someone goes ll in for 7 or 8 years there, and then I'm going to have second thoughts about the Bauer Bandwagon, and sit back and be thankful I'm not an actual GM...
  9. Will they have a team before 2022?
  10. Shaw never actually played 2B until he got to Milwaukee. The Brewers have a recently history of putting just about anyone whose ever fielded a ground ball at 2B...
  11. I could see Potts rivaling Jeter Downs for a 2B position in the future. Potts is only a couple months younger, but has a lot more time in AA. However, he has not been remarkably successful there yet.
  12. Save Fenway!!
  13. Springer? Re-unite him with Matt Barnes? Bradley? Pillar? Back for another year. Or maybe a stopgap 1-2 year solution like Michael Taylor? A very good defensive OF with good RHH pop but an inconsistent bat. The only 2 years he got semi-regular playing time, he posted a .730 OPS with 25 HRs in 850 PAs in a rather cavernous statdium. If the Sox go stopgap at 2B, I still like Schoop as an option...
  14. The scouts for BA saw something in him they liked; but while being a ranked prospect might be an indicator of future success, it far from any sort of guarantee...
  15. If you're dreaming about tagging posts on Red Sox forums, that might be a matter to discuss with a good analyst...
  16. If the Sox keep RHH Dalbec, it does make Chavis completely expendabe. Chavis has one skill - hitting LHP hard. Dalbec, as a same-side hitter, would, negate the need for a platoon at 1B with Chavis. And even if the Sox slide LHH Devers over to 1B, no way Rafael is becoming a platoon player there...
  17. Dalbec at 3b, Devers at 1b is likely on the table....
  18. Hey Webster was a BA Top 100 guy at one point...
  19. This off-season should see more activity, and presumably the Sox should have a better idea about ERod and whether or not he can return. As of now C: Vazquez 1b: Dalbec? Chavis? 2b: ????? 3B: Devers SS: Bogaerts LF: Benintendi CF: Duran? Bradley? Other? RF: Verdugo DH: Martinez? SP: ERod? SP: Perez SP: Eovaldi SP: Pivetta SP: Seabold? (Place holder for Sale?) RP: Barnes RP: Brasier RP: Taylor RP: Hernandez RP: Valdez? RP: McHugh? RP: Walden? BN: Chavis BN: Peraza BN: Plawecki BN: Lin? Munoz? Chatham? Arauz? Other? There are some gaps to fill, mostly big gaps. (Starting pitchers just listed in the order I thought them up.) Players we hopefully never see again: Mazza, Brewer, Weber, Hall, Springs, Covey. On the fence: Brice, Leyer, Stock, Godley.
  20. That's OK. The only team above them in the standings acted more like sellers than buyers...
  21. Well, we had guys like Blake Swihart and Henry Owens in the system back then...
  22. We have seen a lot of African American players trash Boston as a place to play, but maybe JBJ will come back because the Red Sox have made him a richer man ($31 million per B-R!!) than most other teams probably would have. However, the wrong offer can undo that amount of goodwill pretty rapidly, especially in the wake of statements made by Adam Jones and Torii Hunter that might describe situations that Bradley has experienced himself...
  23. Actually the Rockies wanted a right-handed hitting OF...
  24. I also think another PTBNL who made a significant contribution is Harry Chiti, who was sent to the Guardians by the Mets to complete a trade for ... Harry Chiti!!
  25. Stock has been trying to master control and command for eight years now. Sure he might magically grasp the concept now in his eighth professional season, but it’s not very likely..
