  1. Since 2001, Kauffman Stadium with 17. Both Miller Park and Chase Field have had 13. Miller Park and Chase Field are both more known as home run friendly parks for balls leaving the yard....
  2. And the Coors factor is a commonly cited reason why he has not been able to walk into Cooperstown. Although it did not hamper Larry Walker all that much...
  3. They were close. https://www.baseballtradevalues.com/trades/trade-40839/
  4. Those .200 point OPS splits are why I do not mind the Sox staying away from the heavily paid Rockie sluggers like Arendao and Blackmon, whose .987/.747 splits are slightly worse and who does not bring gold Glove caliber defense along with him...
  5. How many OF-2B types does this team need? Especially ones who suck in the OF?
  6. THe deferrals do not affect the actual value of the deal. They just play games with the AAV for tax purposes. It may take a little longer than the contract states, but at some point Dodgers' ownership is going to pay him $365 million dollars...
  7. But those “sure things” get expensive fast. And the only way to keep the ones you have is to make sure you have a few semi-capable minimum wage players on hand. And the more “sure things” you take on, the tougher it gets to keep your own. No one wanted to see Betts go, except possibly Betts. And for all the talk about his extension with LA being a foregone conclusion from Day One, it still took the largest contract in MLB history to keep him there. And that’s what it took to keep him someplace where he was already HAPPY!! But because the Dodgers had Seager and Bellinger and Buehler and Gonsolin and found some scrap heap gems in Muncy and Taylor, and they had a stream of minor league arms, they had a lot better positioned to afford Betts. At least for now. We’ll see if it enables them to hold on to Bellinger...
  8. There’s also that Schilling guy, who certainly has the track record to be in Cooperstown...
  9. An easy list to find disagreements with. Mike Yastrzemski over Jake Arrieta? Max Fried over Corey Kluber? And those two were spotted on first glance. Also, Randy Johnson and Trevor Hoffman were essentially prospects when each was traded. The same can be said for that skinny kid Tommy LaSorda didn’t like. You know, Ramon’s brother...
  10. That was the whole point - that they woud only deal Devers (or Vazquez, apparently) if they were getting back "too much". ..
  11. I assume waist size was one of those numbers...
  12. Very likely. But we don't know any of this until it actually becomes official, which it never might. and hey, maybe they get him for a 2 year low AAV deal...
  13. So no Ronald Acuna and Ozzie Albies?
  14. But see all of the might wind up as average players. It's an overpay by some standards, but I would take my chances with Devers. Now if maybe Ian Anderson found his way into that deal...
  15. Really the only benefit for the 2021 Red Sox is they get an open 40 man roster space a couple weeks earlier...
  16. I think I'd be hesitant. Sure, they could get a boatload of young talent, but even some of the highest rated prospects might not work out like Devers has. Would you deal him for Wander Franco? That's basically an overpay, but is it a good idea?
  17. Even Devers?
  18. He wouldn't be benched. Maybe the plan is to actually play him at 2B. Also, Pillar has not even been signed yet, so we don't know if Kike's deal is longer...
  19. Why not start Pillar, who has been a starter for the bulk of his career?
  20. I'm sure it has come up.
  21. I think the idea is they only do it if they get blown away, which makes sense...
  22. Looking not true...
  23. That was yesterday...
  24. I've seen it mentioned a few times. Not sure what the hold up is...
  25. I would think Pillar is in play, as are a few others. I just think if they are looking for the option that least affects the budget, Reddick might be the way to go. When Renfroe was signed, ae all assumed he as going to platoon with Benintendi in LF. And maybe he will. But I am not as certain that is the plan as I once was. We also all assume Verdugo is th RF, and maybe he should be, and maybe he will be. But again, that may not be the actual plan here. And if Renfroe is to be the RF platoon (which is what he has done for most of his career), then they would need a LHH to accompany him. Reddick certainly fits the bill. Of course, we also all assumed Hernandez was signed to play 2B. And maybe that is not the case. His metrics in CF are actually very good, as opposed to the passable ones at 2B. So right now, the Sox could be looking for a CF or a RF or a 2B. Or they could just install Chavis at 2B, move Hernandez to CF, and keep Verdugo in RF. So many questions. So little time....
