  1. I don’t see the Sox taking a chance on Bryant, who 1) makes $18mill 2) has ONE YEAR until free agency 3) is repped by Scott Boras 4) isn’t signing an extension because this is a player/agent combination that tried to sue the Cubs over service time manipulation and 5) cannot pitch...
  2. Does that include some Sale and how much?
  3. Globe Life Park in Arlington (as well as Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago) is actually more home run friendly than Fenway. And a pull-hitting Mazara (28.1% the other way does not make him much of an opposite field hitter) would probably lose home runs in the cavernous RF at Fenway, especially since he is not a power hitter. He’s a league average hitter and league average fielder. He was not non-tendered by one team and traded away for a minor leaguer by another all by the age of 25 because he is loaded with talent and potential. But he is 25 and might turn it around. And the Sox could do worse...
  4. What about for both Trevor Rosenthal and Keone Kela?
  5. The Yanks are tops at everything? Must be Spring Training again...
  6. While technically Mazara’s .589 OPS is an upgrade over Benintendi’s .442 from last year, it’s not something worth getting excited about...
  7. League average hitter and league average fielder. Not the most exciting choice, but the Sox could do worse. His .781 OPS vs RHP is not ideal platoon material....
  8. Is it that different between going over for Price as opposed to going over for Odorizzi?
  9. Maybe the Sox should deal for Price and have LA pay a portion of what is left on the deal. Already for committed for half, so he does represent a cheap upgrade at this point...
  10. Or deal for Price, who is looking a tad too expensive to have to fight for a spot in a crowded Dodger rotation...
  11. And DD for his off-season complacency...
  12. As long as it is someone like Ryan Weber, and not Ryan Weber. If I had to guess, I think that job falls currently on Matt Andriese....
  13. Yes that’s the Yankee Off-season Thread, where all the chronically injured players magically recover simultaneously, and using their combined pure hearts and good will, come together to form a giant cohesive unstoppable baseball team. Or am I thinking of Voltron?
  14. I don’t think he read it at all...
  15. The Sox played in the same number of World Series with Lynn as they did with Henderson. I get the point, but too many say “this is not a championship caliber team.” Which most times simply means “this roster does not match my narrow-minded interpretation of the only winning formula.” I just want a watchable team. This is my primary form of entertainment and damnit, it needs to be entertaining. That doesn’t mean it needs to be loaded with All Star talent at 8 positions and 3 rotation spots. It doesn’t mean it needs a Hall of Famer. But can I watch this team every night knowing they have a chance? Last year’s team was overmatched, and we all knew very early on. Some understood why. But how many think this team as it stands now can be entertaining (subjective, I know) through September? Or better yet, October?
  16. Why do people think Bradley is coming back when every single article about him says they’re not?
  17. Ozuna to Atlanta
  18. Wouldn’t that make it a $42.5 mill tax hit?
  19. That’s hardly a secret. As secrets go, it’s about as well known as Victoria’s...
  20. Bauer to the Dodgers. Schoop, much to moon’s chagrin, is staying in Detroit...
  21. I think he starts in Worcester, but someone will get hurt and he will get some MLB at-bats...
  22. Universal DH does raise the pay grade of 15 existing ones...
  23. Good to see the Sox are still active on this front. Although I have my suspicions it will not amount to much...
  24. The buzz on Odorizzi has dried up completely. What does a former All Star starting pitcher need to do to get some love?
  25. Hoping he calls enough RP to at least push Valdez down to Worcester and Brice into free agency...
