Globe Life Park in Arlington (as well as Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago) is actually more home run friendly than Fenway. And a pull-hitting Mazara (28.1% the other way does not make him much of an opposite field hitter) would probably lose home runs in the cavernous RF at Fenway, especially since he is not a power hitter. He’s a league average hitter and league average fielder. He was not non-tendered by one team and traded away for a minor leaguer by another all by the age of 25 because he is loaded with talent and potential. But he is 25 and might turn it around. And the Sox could do worse... -

Is it that different between going over for Price as opposed to going over for Odorizzi?

Maybe the Sox should deal for Price and have LA pay a portion of what is left on the deal. Already for committed for half, so he does represent a cheap upgrade at this point...

Yes that’s the Yankee Off-season Thread, where all the chronically injured players magically recover simultaneously, and using their combined pure hearts and good will, come together to form a giant cohesive unstoppable baseball team. Or am I thinking of Voltron?

The Sox played in the same number of World Series with Lynn as they did with Henderson. I get the point, but too many say “this is not a championship caliber team.” Which most times simply means “this roster does not match my narrow-minded interpretation of the only winning formula.” I just want a watchable team. This is my primary form of entertainment and damnit, it needs to be entertaining. That doesn’t mean it needs to be loaded with All Star talent at 8 positions and 3 rotation spots. It doesn’t mean it needs a Hall of Famer. But can I watch this team every night knowing they have a chance? Last year’s team was overmatched, and we all knew very early on. Some understood why. But how many think this team as it stands now can be entertaining (subjective, I know) through September? Or better yet, October?
