  1. Don't ruin one of my better metaphorical punchlines!!!
  2. But it will meaningfully impact my decision to buy that Daniel Gossett jersey!!
  3. Batting average is overrated. But OBP (.290) and K% (28%) are not. OPS+ (106) does tell us Renfroe is an above average hitter for his career, and his splits indicate he has not always been a platoon player that has an inordinate number of at-bats vs LHP. But I still hope the Sox bring in a CF or RF and push him into a platoon with Benintendi..
  4. If we rank the pen options, Andriese is probably 5th or 6th arm, depending on whether or not the Sox import the Japanese pitcher. I would place Brice, Valdez, and Whitlock below him. My hope is both Brice and Valdez can be removed from the initial bullpen, but I am not sure how likely that is. Now if the Sox DFA Brice, would anyone sign him? I think if anyone claims him, he then becomes one of those pitchers who gets DFA'd every three days in hopes he can clear waivers and come back without taking up the roster spot. He might spend most of Spring Training packing and buying bus tickets...
  5. Yes he will be slightly older. But there is a big difference in expectations from a player who missed an entire year because his arm had to be reassembled like a Tinker Toy as opposed to a healthy athlete who missed an entire year to go sit in the corner...
  6. It is fun deciding which piece of excrement gets flushed...
  7. Ah but there is an Atari 2600-like beauty in a baseball game where you know every ground ball that gets past an infielder can and probably will go for a home run...
  8. That's a mighty tall order. And it makes me think you have completely forgotten about the immortal Mike Wacha. Wacha might be immortal, but his elbow certainly is not...
  9. Oh I would have 0 issues with Brice being DFA'd. But there is no real advantage to DFAing him just to clear a path for Mazza/Walden/Springs/Weber/Brewer. And if this team ever gets to the point where the biggest question mark on this team is the 8th man in the bullpen, hopefully we will all be a lot more satisfied...
  10. But he is going to make Fenway look like T-Ball!! I certainly hope the OP was not referring to his defense with that comment...
  11. And the Rays. It's not like replacing Snell with Archer kept them atop the division...
  12. We probably should be fair and point out that the reason for German's lower IP is in a very different class than that of the reduced totals for Kluber, Taillon, Montogomery, and Severino. Unless you think German is incorrigible and will be a repeat offender, which is certainly possible. Not like we know the guy...
  13. .. which is why a DFA of Brice is unlikely. They'll try to keep the depth by demoting someone with options and then to clear a spot, probably DFA the pitcher they feel is most likely to clear waivers, like they did with Hall and Weber...
  14. Valdez has options. And Springs isn’t needed...
  15. The only thing is Walker’s favor over the others is age. But for a team already missing Sale and hoping to count on Eovaldi and Richards, Walker is not a good idea. Now Porcello might be a good idea. And as it looks now, can probably be had for next to nothing. Oh and had his best season in Boston...
  16. Not sure why Bloom is looking to import a Japanese pitcher. I guess this Sawamura is a potential closer/reliever, as he has closed in Japan. His B-R page is incomplete...
  17. Teheran’s velocity is down “senior on a highway” levels
  18. Yes. Too many found memories of Scott Downs...
  19. The thing is, if the Sox are really building for 2022, why wait? Their window is primarily built on Sale. So waiting too long is a bad, bad thing...
  20. But that’s his best selling point!!
  21. So? Your responses are no longer making sense and one gets the impression you’re just trying to aggravate people. Last year, Ryan Weber started the third game of the season. His status has changed. This was painfully clear in the response. It’s like someone asking “are the Mariners ok in CF?” And you’re response “yes, they have the reigning rookie of the year in Kyle Lewis.” And then the person comes back with “but they kept Braden Bishop for a reason”...
  22. With the Mets’ signing of Albert Almora, are they still contenders for Bradley? If not, who are his remaining suitors?
  23. Big deal. Until he crosses it, it might as well be a firm mandate. And what does “not a firm mandate” mean anyway? That it was a polite request? As in John Henry saying “Chaim, I’m not telling you how to do your job, but I want you to know that I specifically will NOT be telling you to stay under the limit, whether you think it’s good for your career or not.”
  24. Not sure why Casas, Downs and Duran are the three players the Sox should be tanking seasons to wait for the arrival of. Chances are they’re average at best, and it’s always possible some or all 3 just don’t pan out...
  25. Added ERod, Richards, Sale (partial), Pivetta. Subtracted Godley, Weber, Mazza, Brewer (yes he was 6th on the Sox in starts last year), Hart, etc...
