  1. For a bench player, I'd rather have Holt. But of the two if I need a starting 2B, I would take Hernandez...
  2. Well, can we at least assume he will want to enter the period of contention with a clean slate for luxury tax years?
  3. We could get a defensive CF for free if we dealt Benintendi to Atl for Inciarte (Salary: $9mil, but $6.1mill AAV). It's actually not a fair trade, but Atlanta could pitching something to balance it out. Like a freakin' pitcher? Despite it not working out on BTV, I'd consider Inciarte and Kyle Wright for Benintendi...
  4. Great. A guy who makes Eovaldi look like Hoss Radbourne. Richards threw 207 IP in 2015, and only 198 IP combined since then...
  5. More proof that I am right...
  6. And only $9mill for a RP and CF if they sign Odorizzi.
  7. Chavis/Beni? Is Renfroe getting cut?
  8. I’d be very surprised if Casas made MLB this year. He’s only had 7 plate appearances in high A ball, and that’s the highest level he’s played. I even think Downs and his 48 at bats in AA would be rushed. And Duran probably needs to do something good above A ball before he gets promoted. His BABIP-fueled A-ball numbers did not translate to AA at all...
  9. That’s more than I thought he’d get. Hopefully the Sox are not sticking to staying under the tax limit. They still need a SP, RP (CL?) and a CF...
  10. Maybe Benintendi will not be in Boston...
  11. Why? The Sox are loaded with lesser arms already...
  12. Ozuna will cut much deeper into the pitching budget than Kike Hernandez...
  13. The issue of course is what team would want Downs and be willig to ive up a SP for him. Per BTV, he has a similar trade value to Aaron Civale (Cle), Trevor Rogers (Mia), Justus Sheffield (Sea), Dylan Cease (Tex), Brady Singer (KC), Brad Keller (KC), and Lance McCullers. Now how many of these teams would make the named pitcher available for a minor league 2B prospect? You might be able to get McCullers, as he has only one year left on his deal...
  14. Plenty of options still exist...
  15. That late season BABIP really paid off for him, I guess...
  16. Chavis and Arroyo are equal levels of crapshoot. I only give Arroyo the advantage due to defense...
  17. Exactly. I'm not sure what all the uproar is about. We knew Sale was a second half candidate at best almost a year ago...
  18. I just got this alert on my phone. RIP Hammerin' Hank...
  19. I think Dalbec is perfectly capable of an equal swoon. Even with his hot start, he has shown he has a lot more swing and miss in his game than Chavis had. And as pitchers make some adjustments to Dalbec, such a swoon is certainly a possibility. Like I said, I am not wild about Chavis, but his swoon consists of 480 PA spread out over 2 seasons. I think it's a bit early to say he cannot and will not ever adjust to anything...
  20. Hopefully opening day is not the deadline. Pitchers and catchers re[port in 3 weeks. So maybe having a few pitchers on board by then would be a good idea...
  21. Not really news. They should use a conservative approach...
  22. Signed him to a one year deal...
  23. So... players get one season to adjust? And then why are people so high on Dalbec? After 92 PA, Dalbec had .959 OPS, 8 HR, 39K/10BB After 91 PA, Chavis had .999 OPS, 7 HR, 24K/14BB
  24. I think he could be the starting 1B in Pittsburgh, but I think the strategy for the Sox boils down to not trading away younger players for established veterans...
