  1. The fine folks in Worcester might grow to love him. Probably not...
  2. It's not like they won't be bringing all these guys back in 2022. If we question whether or not Bauer represents a good value for the contract he wants, don't you think Toronto GM Ross Atkins has similar concerns?
  3. I am going to make a crazy prediction. The Sox will trade Chavis to Pitt for Adam Frazier. Frazier is a good stopgap 2B solution, as he can hit a little, play above average defense, and, as he has some OF experience, can move into a supersub role if Jeter Downs forces the situation in 2022. This deal also represents a savings of roughly $10mill for Pitt, depending on Frazier's 2022 salary. Chavis is not the primary need for Pitt, but he can help their weak 1B position as they dealt away Josh Bell, and if any GM in MLB has any faith in Chavis, it is probably Ben Cherington, the man who drafted him in the first round. Pitt probably prefers pitching, but I do not think they will get much pitching for Adam Frazier... This deal does work on BTV...
  4. He is a solution if he signs with Toronto...
  5. Is that some new Canadian venereal disease?
  6. That one hit Rotoworld 2 days ago. MLBTR is slacking. I think that false announcement about Brantley has them checking and re-checking themselves...
  7. Ryu is not bad at all, but the same can be said about ERod and Eovaldi, and the Sox still have issues atop their rotation. I will predict Paxton signs with Toronto, but I am only saying that because his Canadian. And signing with Toronto would bring him a scant 2,600 miles from where he grew up...
  8. They still have a rotation lead by Ryu
  9. But what is better? Paxton, Tanaka, and Happ? Or Kluber, German and Garcia? And by how much?
  10. It probably also helped that the conditioning coach he was working with is an employee of the Yankees....
  11. Yes. But they still have not improved their biggest weakness in SP. They did at least address their second biggest in OF...
  12. So did all of the GMs, which is why the Guardians waived Brad Hand and every GM passed on him, and now he is positioned to get much more than 1 yr / $10 mill...
  13. Well, those might not be false reports. Favorites don't always win. Close deals sometimes fall through...
  14. Apparently Bloom's hands are tied if you're expecting big moves.
  15. Everyone is signing Brantley today. Everyone except Bloom..
  16. But "not going all in" doesn't mean trading off all the peices and just building the minor league system. It certainly means no ludicrous mega contracts, which we already all guessed anyway. And there was not much of a selection to give one to. It probably means not dealing any of the more promising prospects. But signing some free agents to 1-3 year deals could still be on the table. Odorizzi appears comfortble with a 3 year deal, which is why he is still an option. Semien is the odd rumor, since one would think he would NOT want a one year deal and re-enter the market in next year's SS class...
  17. It might be worth noting that players on the 40 man roster see a drop in value just for being on the 40 man roster, as it inhibits their tradability in some cases...
  18. The one flaw in their system is that they use projections for WAR that are ehavily dependant on projected playing time. But a bench player that ets dealt into a starting role would see a sudden increase in projected WAR regardles of ability. In the case of Chavis' drop, it probably reflects a decrease in projected playing time...
  19. FYI the Defense Condition scales counts backwards to 1 where “nuclear war is imminent.” DEFCON 5 is “lowest star of readiness.”
  20. So I guess Barnes was not good enough friends with him?
  21. It's not the size of the binder. It's how quickly you turn pages...
  22. As a closer, I would be OK with that. But for a team with health issues atop the rotation, Richards represents another problem, not a solution...
  23. If the Sox signed Ordoizzi/Teheran and Colome and Enrique Hernandez and JBJ/Pillar (or ?). That's a decent start. I'd deal Chavis for a RP. Per BTV, some relievers roughly equal to Chavis in value and whose availablity is not listed as "Low" include Wander Suero of Washington and Anthony Reyes of St. Louis. I don't see the Cardinals dealing Reyes for Chavis. Also the Yankees' Jonathan Loasigia, but we all know that sin't happening. SP: Odorizzi (Teheran)/ERod/Eovaldi/Perez/Pivetta/Houck(Sale) RP: Colome, Barnes, Brasier, Hernandez, Taylor, Whitlock, Andriese, Suero (Brice? Eventually Houck?) 1B: Dalbec 2b: Hernandez 3b: Devers SS: Bogerts LF: Benintendi (Renfroe) CF: Bradley/Pillar/Almora/Marisnick RF: Verdugo DH: Martinez C: Vazquez BN: Plawecki BN: Arroyo BN: Renfroe BN: ? (Chavis? Moreland? Miller?) I would not think this team would come in last again. But is it an 85-90 win team?
  24. Sox will probably only have 4 bench spots. If they get a 2B and a CF, Renfroe, Arroyo and Plawecki take 3 of themm. That means either another OF or a LHH (Miller? Moreland?) for the final spot. Or they use an internal option like Chavis, Puello or Gettys for the last roster spot...
